Why not apply some map-specific tweaks to this champ - I know it can be done, seen it before :) It's not that she's OP on her own, she makes her whole team OP with her one button team buffs every few seconds.
Time after time I see Sona teams win (they do lose but super rarely and only if the overall team sucks).
It's getting to the point where I consider a match that includes Sona a big waste of time.
Wanna know which champ really ruins ARAM matches? Katarina. I rage whenever I see one on the enemy team. Those games are never fun. NEVER.
It's almost like bans would address this issue. Huh.
Every time Rito James™ breaks Sona in Summoner's Rift, her Howling Abyss clone is just as potent as ever. Adjusting her numbers specifically for ARAM won't fix anything -- Sona's entire kit is excels in a single-lane, in both constant team fight and battle of attrition environments.
Trying to break Sona in ARAM isn't the solution. Giving players the option of banning "ZOMG OP" champions in ARAM will do more to reduce their frequency in matches.
There's already an update on the PBE that further reduces healing in ARAM from -20% to -50%. I'd assume it'll be out next patch.
That may not entirely address your concerns about Sona (or just the problems with ARAM in general), but it should help to make her and other healers significantly less problematic in ARAM.
(Personally, I think LotPK should replace ARAM or stay permanent, but I know that's not going to happen.)
