Patch 4.18 and Tristana
The rebalance on Trist's Q is not only a nerf to her overall damage threat but also a nerf to her late game max dps potential. Now I'm all for nerfing/fixing Trist and giving her "moments of weakness" but how does this change balance her when her level 18 attack speed with Q is actually SLOWER?
There are many ways to rebalance Trist but I feel this just hurts her late game which is where I thought she was supposed to shine.
Option 1 - Change passive. Make her the new Lucian with equally horrific early game AA range.
Option 2 - Change Q. Honestly either a balanced shift of attack speed or just the duration decrease alone would have been enough. Another option is to increase the duration of Q with levels.
Option 3 - Change W. Time reduction per kill or assist rather than a reset.
Option 4 - Change E. Reduce or remove the active damage and maybe increase her grievous wound debuff duration. OR completely remove the active and maybe buff the passive damage/radius.
Changing R by itself won't make a meaningful difference. But if you want to change R maybe make it weaker and have a scaling factor.
I always thought that Trist's core was to be a late game hypercarry and that the main issue was her early game was too strong that it made her late game potential earlier. So why not nerf her early game only? If you're going to hurt her late game as well, shouldn't there be a "meaningful tradeoff"?
I actually wouldn't mind the change if the damage during her active Q was relatively the same. In other words, I feel that if Q has a shortened duration, the attack speed steroid should be significantly higher to compensate. Currently the Q buff merely compensates for the base debuff up to level 13. It does not compensate for either the overall aspd nerf or duration nerf.
Maybe I'm overestimating this change or maybe Trist just needs the crap nerfed out of her; I just believe there are smarter ways of doing it.
