because then the chance of getting a champ I don't enjoy playing is even higher. all I want to do is play champs i like.

The tilt in urf is mostly playing AGAINST champs everyone hates rather than playing champs you don't like. So it's not worse

Immex51 votes

the tilt is being dumb enough to expect balance in a no mana 80% cdr game mode. thats what a banning phase is for.

1011001110005 votes

The tilt is believing that a ban phase would actually be capable of balancing a no mana 80% cdr game mode.

The game mode is a load of horseshit that was going to be fun only once. The community just can't let that go.

SELL1820SKINS4IP2 votes

The community loves it no matter what you think about it. After they took it down the first go round I litterally said, wow league of legends has nothing even half as fun as urf was, and that was it for me. The tilt is that people think they can just pick whatever champ they know well or they think looks cool and are mad when they get squashed. Learn to pick the good champs or get fk'd. There is no in between.

No mana 80% cdr league of legends is far more fun than any other mode in league of legends so much that they have created a whole new customer. One that doesn't give a fck about pro and ranked because it is boring and not fun often enough. This new customer wants to pick the most hated champs, and wants to play against the most hated champs to have a battle so fast and so intense the game lags becasue it is too much. Taking away the ability to pick the best champs/making people play trash champs is a huge offense against this new type of customer and if rito doesnt address it they will lose these customers faster than they realize they have them.

You atrocityeyes are just an old sheep, married to a boring old people way.

1011001110004 votes

The community loves it until they remember why they stop playing the bloody game mode - getting shat on by every Fizz/Sion/Kayle that happens to sneeze in their direction, and because it's RANDOM now, they have to hope RNG gives them a way to deal with it. People idiotically clamored on about how we need "All Random" or Ban Phases like that's going to fix the root of the problem: Certain champions will be infinitely better than others when given such broken stats, and the second any of those "god-tier" champions gets picked, the rest of the game is literally just about them and no one else.

URF in League is fun as long as you're not the one getting shat on and All Random didn't fix that at all. I got Sion twice in a row, and in both games I had to 2 v 1 an entire lane on my own because they couldn't handle my poke pressure and wave push. And this was despite the fact that neither team had an actual jungler. So whatever lane the enemy had only 1 player in got shat on so hard they were useless. Game was so fuckin boring I started afk jungling for 5 minutes and we still won.

RNG doesn't make a game mode any better, it only exacerbates the problems it originally had. I'm not going to pretend like I didn't enjoy URF the first time it came out, I genuinely liked it, but it quickly dawned on me that there was going to be shit so cancerous to this game mode that it wasn't going to be worth enjoying.

The 2nd time URF rolled around, I was right. Everyone was quickly disappointed by all the Fizz and Zed and Vlads in each game that no one could do anything but watch those players run around doing shit.

And ARURF here isn't doing a whole lot better - AR isn't even truly random because it's pool-based, so people with small pools of OP champions get to shit all over anyone almost consistently, and if not, they never have a bad pick into the game anyway. I only played it HOPING the RNG element would stop one-sided stomps, or at least reduce their occurrence, but it hardly does. It's normally clear within the first 2-3 minutes who's actually going to win.

BLACK REALM GOD2 votes

it's like what i said on another post a few times. champions that are balanced around cooldowns and resource management are infinitely better than champions balanced around regeneration and on hit auto's.

simply put if you dont have any draw backs to the power your kit has then you're going to win.

mundo for example is absolutely terrible because his entire kit is about soaking up damage and then regenerating that damage, but until the healing effect timer reaches 60% he's actually killing himself with his R. his cooldowns were never long to begin with. the best thing he gets is his tenacity. if you think mundo is a good pick in arurf then i guess you've never played veigar arurf.

another example would be rumble. he cant even spam spells because of his passive. aathox does poorly because he cant lifesteal until late game. vayne does poorly because her kit has nothing to do with spell spam and everything to do with positioning and basic attacks.

the list goes on but here are some great picks for arurf

Azir Blitzcrank Brand Karthus Kayle Kassadin MasterYi Shaco Taric Teemo Veigar

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

Its not about balancing the game mode - its about removing champions that just arent fun to play against.

Played a game as a Bruiser Maokai - Gunblade, Voidstaff, then tank. Its pretty tilt inducing - although AP maokai can sapling you and oneshot you, there is a greater frusteration in being chain cced for 10 rotations as you die.

Getting bursted down in a half a second is fun as long as you have the chance to burst them in a half-second as well. Being able to move 200 units in 10 seconds as you slowly get whittled away just ruins the fun.

1011001110004 votes

If we had your way, over half the roster would be banned because the only ones that don't really become broken out of this are ADCs.

Alistar : Chain CC combo forever, bursts with an AP-off tank build, ult has excessive up time. Anivia : Passive up almost every all-in, Ult+E+E+E+E Azir : ALWAYS HAS SOLDIERS, FUCK Evelynn : One of the many poster champions for this mode. Ezreal : Flash on a 5 second cooldown, woohoo. Fiora : Near infinite chase potential with Q, true damage up the ass. This ignores her W. Fizz : So fuckin annoying with his Q and E that his box is also broken. Garen : SPIN2WIN Gnar : Still builds Mallet, but now you can't catch him. Graves : Dash. Dash. Dash. COMBO. Dash. Dash. Dash. COMBO. Heimerdinger : HE ALWAYS HAS TURRETS. IF HE MAXES Q, HE CAN CYCLE THEM AND INDEFINITELY JUGGLE TURRET AGGRO WITH THEM, LIKE HOLY SHIT. Jayce : E-Q-Q-Q-E-Q-Q-Q-KILLING SPREE. Kassadin : blink combo blink combo blink combo "TRIPLE KILL!" Katarina : Her Q procs her own Q damage. She wave clear with a point-and-click. And her passive fully resets ult from the get-go. Good luck being squishy. Kayle : Heal with MS boost, ranged autos with no projectiles, invulnerability ult, slow off Q. If you're melee, you're fucked. Unless you're Alistar, then you can just CC combo her to death through ult. Leblanc : Her W has such a low cooldown her return-blink delay lasts longer, and she can W-Q-R you every 10 seconds. Leona Lissandra : Stop moving. Just stop. And die. Lulu : FUZZY! ZIPPY! LITERAL 100% SPELL UP-TIME. Malphite : AP Malphite is viable now. Q-Q-Q-Q-Q-Q-Level 6 for kill. Morgana : Lands a Q, you should afk now. Nasus : Afk stacks through the entire jungle and gets 300 stacks before 10 minutes (if they're any good), then proceeds to splitpush everything to death. Nidalee : Hops away. Unless you're Kassadin with Rank 3 ult, have fun eating spears chasing. Shaco : stealth trap taunts and baits into box shiv repeat Sion : You literally cannot push against Sion. He will yell the minions to death. He will yell you to death. 2 v 1 his lane and you'll still lose it. Swain : INFINITE ULT UP-TIME, WOOHOO. Syndra : Summons 6 balls, ults for kill. Okay. Thresh : Chain CC for DAYS. Literally. Tristana : Her Q gives her permanent AS buffs, permanent E up-time for trading, W up ever 4 seconds. Play her AD or AP, you're gonna combo someone either way. Urgot : Ahahahahaha. Varus : Long range poke forever. Veigar : Ahahahahahaha. Vladimir : Never dies unless the Vlad's bad. Warwick : Ult ganks are confirmed kills at this point. Yasuo : Woohoo, the windwall up-time is better than ever. Muh range can't beat him. Zed : BALANCE IS A FOOL'S MASTER.

Seriously, there is no champion that DOESN'T feel like shit to play against unless they're just irredeemably bad in this game mode. Ban the most annoying shits like Zed and Fizz and LeBlanc, then you'll eventually go down the list of bullshit until there's nothing but ass-tier champions like Aatrox and Vayne.

URF's novelty the first time it came out was in everyone figuring out just how broken these champions could be. All the ridiculous interactions and combos were great to look forward to, and it even helped find some outlying bugs. Now that everyone knows how to play the champions in URF, it's just a shitfest that's only fun with friends. 9 of them. Barely.

ChaoticPinecone2 votes

Thats exactly my point, actually.

First of all, im saying that all these requests for "open all champions to be randomly picked" is stupid. Most of the champions are broken on URF. You can complain about "ARURF accounts", but realize that since most of the champions are broken (or have a broken part of their kit that can be exploited), everybody seems like they have an ARURF account. In reality, its people who know how to exploit the URF mechanics on a champion's kit, no matter who they pick. This problem seems worse with the reroll system - a loss gives you one reroll, a win gives you 2. So if youre stuck with one of the 10 champions that really arent good on urf (e.g. Singed), you almost always have a reroll available.

But aside from the champion choices, some champs arent fun to play agasint. Thats why bans would be nice - ban based on CC. THe most annoying are the ones who CC lock you, because full tanks will still kill you in a few seconds with 80% CDR. Its much less annoying to get 1 shot by a Maokai than be cc locked for 10 seconds.

And lastly, I woudnt say "that its only fun with friends. 9 of them. Barely." Maybe for you. Dont tell us what we like. We know what we like. And i, personally, like URF - solo, duo, or with a full team. Which is why I'm taking the time to post things like this, to hopefully enhance the fun while eliminating some of the truly antifun aspects of URF.

1011001110001 votes

Banning based on CC is such a subjective ban measure, because so many of these champions can just itemize into soft CC and screw with you just as much. And if you remove all these CC champions, you're just leaving the insta-burst bullshit that people ALSO complain about. Chain CC in URF would be the only way to MAYBE stop an obviously rampant Fizz or Zed, and that's assuming you only have to CC lock one of these little shits. Get rid of CC champions and suddenly you have half a roster gone, and another 1/3 of the champions completely unviable because they rely on CC locks being available to protect them from the stray Fizz.

Besides this, if you like playing URF with your instagib bullshit, then there are people that like playing URF with their CC bullshit. You can't call "CC champions" the most annoying URF champions when many firmly believe Fizz and LeBlanc are literally the most cancerous things there because of the complete inability to shut down their insanely strong and frequent burst combos (and for Fizz, his frequent invulnerability to damage). Just giving people ban picks is the easiest band-aid you can have because then people will just ban the things they don't like to play against.

At the end of the day, I'm surprised that this community didn't have the idea of doing Nemesis URF, just to see how long they could go without complaining about it. If anything, playing URF with the "worst" champions would probably be more fun than whatever you guys are trying to come up with.

ChaoticPinecone2 votes

I cant tell if youre agreeing with me or not.

I am for bans on URF. You seem to be too, since then "people will just ban the things they dont like to play against".

I speak from experience - bruiser-spellvamp Maokai is one of the strongest dualists in URF. Even Zed, Fizz, or Vlad cant 1v1 him. And I'm trying to make the argument that most of the champions become instabig in URF - why waste bans on a couple instagib champions then?

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

notice how you had a lot that required you to specifically go into detail about how to make them powerful and then you had some that you just showed their picture and said pretty much nothing? those that you said nothing about are the oppressive urf champs that we're talking about. every champion gets a little bit of something in urf. some get a little more. a select few get a LOT more. when you dont even have to mention their issues you know it's an issue.

1011001110002 votes

My "explanations" were me pointing out maybe one or two things at best, at face value everything I said is something so obvious I could have simply said "lol broken Q/W/E/R/Passive" and it'd 99% of the time be right.

Or are you seriously going to tell me that because I went into mild detail as to why Sion is bullshit in URF that he ISN'T frustrating to play against? I mean you are guaranteed to NEVER GET THE TURRET if he's in your lane.

Me stating what makes them bullshit doesn't change the fact that they're immediately bullshit and un-fun to play against if you aren't playing something that is equally or more bullshit.

If I wanted to, I could go into detail on how EVERY champion is bullshit in URF, but that does not invalidate their bullshit.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

my point was that in urf every champ gets some kind of benefit. there are absolutely zero champs that get no benefit what so ever. simply because 80% > 45%. however - 80% of 10 is not that much of a difference from 45% of 10 and even less so of 5. fury champs are balanced around the idea that x value will never go below or above y value. energy champs are balanced around the idea that x can never be used y times without z first. resourceless champs are balanced around the idea that x will only happen y times. mana champs are balanced on the idea that as long as x < y then z will happen. because of those different types of interactions with their abilities some champions are just simply more overwhelming than others when their values are altered for urf.

1011001110002 votes

Except so many champions have singular abilities which are balanced around the idea of never occurring often that giving them 80% cdr alone throws them over the deep end.

All champions gaining benefit doesn't make everything suddenly okay. Fiora's practically moving twice as fast because she can dash literally every second. Just because a few got some nice shit doesn't justify a select few getting a WHOLE SHITTON OF STATS that puts them beyond the realm of controllable.

Especially when you try to play normal balance logic like "muh energy champs" when they're literally one of the better performing groups around.

Venomar1 votes

I second that. I'm relatively new to league in the grand scheme of things and I played about 10 URF mode games this weekend(first time ever). It took me about 1.5 games to notice that the game mode was complete trash and couldn't possibly ever be fun or balanced because everyone's brain turns to goo or certain champions just completely ruin it (Ala AP Ezreal).

I only played more for the Easy S+(s) and mastery scores.

BLACK REALM GOD17 votes

but guess what? you cant. because the way urf works is that when you choose a champion who was balanced entirely around the idea of long cooldowns or mana consumption and your opponent chooses a champion based around auto attacks and regeneration guess who wins? thats stiffling the amount of fun players can have.

Immex53 votes

your right the original urf was a total failure and no one liked it... oh wait.

people liked it to spam shit mostly losers that can't handle regular game enjoyed it to abuse it and win matches. Ofcourse normal players that are just trying to have fun enjoyed it too when they didn't have to deal with the desperate.

Heres the problem with your way of thinking: there are very few champs that arent OP.

How about you make a list of these "OP champs". In fact, lets make it easier - make a list of the non OP champs. You end up realizing that the list of weak champs on URF is less then 10.

If you dont believe me, make that list. Its not these "AR URF" accounts that are wreaking you half the time. Its just people who know how to use the champion.

Aatrox Akali AurelionSol Bard Braum Caitlyn DrMundo Draven Galio Gnar Graves JarvanIV Kindred Kled KogMaw Leona Malphite Mordekaiser Nunu just to name half of the underpowered champs.

aspects11 votes

Graves has never before been called underpowered XD

BLACK REALM GOD2 votes

he might be a great dueler but he cant team fight at all. you're stuck being a clean up tank. anyone who complains about graves being overpowered probably complains about urf in general. true grit means nothing when you cant out damage your opponent with your abilities or auto attacks.

aspects11 votes

his autos do a ton of damage, esp when you go full ad with one ie and get that lucky crit

ChaoticPinecone1 votes

List of champs ill give you:

Aatrox AurelionSol JarvanIV (ap is fun in lane, but falls off quick) Kindred Nunu (ap is fun, but falls off)

List of champs that arent weak or underpowered at all. Akali Build her right - gunblade, voidstaff, (maybe mortal reminder if youre up agasint a lot of tanks) then tank. Youre unkillable with your spam-happy spells, and youre dashing all over the place. Max E - she is basically Eve with a gapcloser at 6. Bard Similar to why Ahri or Morg is annoying - land one stun, youre cc-locked Braum Permashield, Permaslow. Maybe not OP, but not weak or unfun to play as. Caitlyn Put her mid. Spam Q and traps. Then when you get 6, just ult your enemy laner every 15 seconds. Unless they have Vlad, Fizz, Sona, or Nami mid, they will call you cancer. DrMundo ive seen ridiculous splitpush mundos. Pretty much as bad as Tryn. Build an zeal item and watch a Mundo with 1.5 AS crit with his E. Also spams Cleaver in lane, so isnt bad at all. Galio Spam Q and E for poke. Permashield means that youre healing off all the damage they do to you. Only need a deathcap+Voidstaff. Resists + AP means that you heal more than they damage you. Gnar Endless boomerangs Graves I can tell you havent played Graves - he is one of the most broken on URF. Keep E at 4 stacks. You almost cant lose a 1v1 until 6 items, then it comes to outplaying your opponent. KogMaw AP isnt bad. Having your W up permenantly isnt bad either for ADs. Leona Dont go full tank. Get a Trinity then tank. You will CC lock most 1v1 matchups. Malphite go AP Mordekaiser Gunblade+tank (maybe ryalis) with ghost.Similar to Akali, but you also get a dragon.

Havent played Draven or Kled on URF, so i cant comment.

BLACK REALM GOD3 votes

akali does that in normals. bard doesnt get the benefit of morganas q simplicity the benefit of ahris e's range the versatility of lux's q. at best he gets more chimes and meeps per second. braum isnt overpowered or underpowered. he's one of the champs that doesnt get anything or lose anything. he has crowd control but has trouble killing enemies. without a lane buddy to capitalize you're in for a stalemate if you're decent with braum. caitlyn can spam traps in normal. traps do nothing on their own. your opponent has to actually walk into them and then you have to auto attack them. you're still limited to 3 4 5 based on skill level and her Q's set up is a far cry from a safe move to use in urf. the frames required for her to fire both her R and Q are astronomical compared to most champs. all of this completely ignores the fact that her basic attacks still require 6 autos to use headshot - which still requires attack speed to improve. the fact that mundos have to resort to split pushing proves they're underpowered. cleavers are on a 5 second cooldown in normals. his R kills him early game instead of healing him. galio doesnt get the healing early game because of the heal embargo. other than that he's still just a sponge and his sponginess wasnt strengthened. gnar with 40% cdr can almost boomerang just as fast. that 80% means nothing to a 3 second cooldown. the only thing good about graves is his dash. grants him early game dueling potential and that's about it. his basic attack becomes terrible and his skillshots are worthless since everyone can now dodge them. take away his dash and he dies faster than a fish out of water kogmaw can do all of that in normals leona can do that in normals at 45% cdr. malphite ap has always been a thing. especially in korea. especially attack speed ability power malphite. item 3115 item 3091 item 3001 item 3075 item 3068 item 3151 . mordekaiser cant heal early game. his R is nice but it doesnt matter if you cant live long enough to use it. because the game is so fast paced drake means nothing. it doesnt respawn nearly fast enough and it's still a slow clunky clueless minion. i've solo'd it as soon as it's spawned as janna in urf. draven relies on his spinning axes too much which are already on an instant cooldown. the best thing is you can use your R more often. that's about it for draven. kled relies on attack speed and at best can spam his Q and E. even though his passive W is only 3 seconds it doesnt improve his chances of surviving until he can land all of his hits. R doesnt help much since it's a team reliant skill and other than that is just a knockup movement speed buff.

the best champs are the ones with both skillshots and crowd control in their kits that were designed with high damage dealing abilities on long cooldowns. examples are as followed

Zed Morgana Teemo Shaco Blitzcrank Jinx Kennen Lucian Khazix MasterYiNidalee Riven Syndra Talon Tryndamere Veigar Velkoz MonkeyKing Xerath Yasuo Ziggs Zyra

mana drain champs are the next tier of oppressing champs. Anivia Karthus Kassadin Singed Sona

the 3rd set of oppressives being champs that have zero cooldown on a very key ability or unlimited stacking Evelynn Corki Ashe Brand Illaoi Shen Veigar Nasus etc.

not all champs fall into those 3 lists. the ones that dont really are just not worth playing in urf.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

Bard doesn't get the benefit of Morgana's Q simplicity, the benefit of Ahri's E range, or the versatility of Lux's Q.

First of all, I want to note that Bard Q is 950 cast range while Ahri's is 975. Not much of a difference, BUT the thing is, is that his Q extends 450 units beyond the initial hit to stun. Meaning it can stun farther than Ahri's E AND Lux's Q while additionally hitting two people.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

950 IS the initial cast range though which means either you hit what you're aiming for or you dont. that's the part of the skill shot that matters the most. lux's Q can stun two people without having to stun two people. meaning i can stun 1 by itself in the middle of the lane. all three are simpler than bards difficult skill shot. that why no one complains when bard lands his Q just as much as morgana. it's because they know they messed up and bard caught them. morgana just has to get past the minions and lux doesnt even have to do that.

In some way it is worse. Imagine this, you go and play Ar URF,let's say you get a champion you have no experience with ,while playing against someone who has tons of ecperience with their champ or simply got Yi&Jax. That isn't really a fun game.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

playing any game mode where you're inexperienced from your opponent makes for a terrible time unless you can enjoy the experience of learning. that isnt a very good argument. also if you're an experienced player who only has 3 or 4 champs that you have mastery 7 with and you only have to worry about the 10 free rotation champions being chosen and then there's a BAN PHASE added... well now all i have to do is ban three champs from the free rotation and guess what - i just increased the chances of getting one of those OP champs from 4/14 to 4/11. if another one of those free rotation champs gets banned my odds of getting who i want increase even more so. up to a possible 4/8. that's a 50% chance that im getting who i want to play. the pool of champs is approximately 140 so you have a 3/140 chance of banning at least one of your opponents champs. odds are you wont ban 3 of them. and odds are against you that their team will ban a champ they want to play.

a ban phase solves nothing and just further increases the one-sided affair that aram accounts cause in arurf.

the only way to solve the issue of "same 12 boring champs every match" and to solve the problem "aram accounts have better pick rate" is to use the entire champ pool.

personally i dont see the issue with this since it's a weekend medley mode. one for all uses the entire champ roster and it's not like anyone would have control of how many times they'd get to play an expensive or new champ if it was an actually random selection.

PokladnicaZla2 votes

There's difference between getting a champ you main and a champ who's OP.It thinkn it'y a really good argument.Unlike in aram where you actually have time to get to know a champ,URF doesn't really give that option since it's a "fast game".

Snowplosion6 votes

I would rather have a ban phase. Just my opinion.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

you cant ban all of the assassin's and mana drain champs in the game. that's over 20 champions. adding a ban phase wouldnt help anything in all honesty and it would prevent players from enjoying the randomness and then players would see the same champs minus the top 6. in fact adding a ban phase would further increase the likelihood of seeing overpowered champs. especially on aram accounts. less champs means more chance to get a champ that you prefer. especially if the person banning bans 3 of his own champs.

It's meant to be fun. That's the major point. But when people are allowed to make their own choices, 99% of the time they will pick cheese win champs like Evelynn, Shaco, Riven, Urgot, Sona, and Fizz. And then the only people having fun are the people who picked those champs. The game mode turns into "Pick one of these 10 champs or you don't get to enjoy it."
