Don't rework my Zyra please!

Zyra, Rise of the Thorns - Champions - LoLSkill

Hey everyone,

Zyra has been my main champion for nearly a year now. I reached a number of 287 Zyra ranked games last season and because of her I managed to reach platinum. I heard Riot will give her a rework in May. Apart from the fact that I don't want her to be reworked, she also doesn't need a rework.

Riot wants her to be more viable for midlane, but she is already. A good Zyra player should be able to win almost every matchup against mages due her ability to poke and burst them down early. Yes I know she is struggling against assassins, but other mages like Syndra, Xerath, Azir and Lux struggle against assassins aswell. A rework won't make her better against assassins, because mages are countered by assassins in general and she is wins her matchups against other mages in midlane. In addition she lots of crowd control favouring her team even more compared to other mages. She is also one of the highest damage dealers in the game. To be honest, I really don't see a reason for a rework, buff or nerf.

Most champions are reworked because they are not able anymore to win more games than lose games, or their kit is totally outdated, their visuals are totally outdated or they can't be balanced by nerfing or buffing, since they will be either too strong or either to weak. None of these reasons applies to Zyra. Most people who main Zyra have 54%-60% winrate, which is really good. Her kit is unique; I can't come up with a champion with a kit like hers, but I really don't feel like it's outdated and doesn't fit in the current state of the game League of Legends. She's also totally balanced, she got the very high damage potential, but she also has her lack of mobility which makes her slightly weaker and buffing her won't make her extremely strong and nerfing won't make her totally weak. She also doesn't need visual upgrades, since she looks so nice already. To be honest, I really don't see a reason for a rework, buff or nerf.

I hope I made my vision clear about Zyra's rework. She really doesn't need a rework, buff or nerf. I hope more people agree with me and give me an upvote to let Riot start thinking again. I will enjoy my Zyra games till May more then ever, since they could be my last. Riot please don't take my Zyra away!

Yours faithfully

they want to rework her to make her more thematically fit her role as a plant-mancer

To be honest I think she already does!

"Her kit is unique"?

Really? You think so? To me it seems like she's just trying to land her spells whenever they are available and grows plants whenever she can. She's just a spell spammer with very little decision making.

Also don't expect a full rework. Riot has already stated they have only resources to touch couple of abilities per champion. Maybe she will just get a new passive?

You might have a point there if you put it like this; yes, there are many spell spammers in this game, but most of them don't get a rework do they? By unique I mean her kit only. Do you know any other champion in this game with a kit like Zyra's? I mean nobody has plants right? And nobody got an ult and passive like her's.

Even if those abilities are considered "unique", it doesn't mean they automatically give fun and engaging gameplay.

Spell spammers are a problem in general especially when they can't commit to the game otherwise. IMO there should always be strategic advantage for picking a certain champion. Zyra does have few things she can do better that others (aoe root + zone control) but her way of applying them is quite simple and boring.

She also has few points that could be designed better (mainly passive).

I have to admit her passive might need a bit of attention, but she is most definitely not boring. I had 287 games on her for a reason! :)

Well she was the only champion I played during the end of season 3 to get gold. I think she's fun as well (otherwise I wouldn't have played her) but I believe she has potential to be even more fun.

Personally I have enjoyed most of Riot's reworks and I trust them enough to not fk up with Zyra. I doubt it's even possible to ruin her passive since it's already kinda obsolete from her kit. And by only changing her passive I believe she could become way more in touch with her theme.

Although I don't enjoy most of Riot's reworks, I will trust them on my main champion I guess. Riot, give her the best passive you can!

Seems like your trust was missplaced.

I disagree.

While I am not as familiar with Zyra as many other characters, the fact that Zyra is such a sub-par pick and low priority pick means a rework is just what she needs. Remember that she was originally supposed to be an exclusive MID LANER but failed miserably and was dropped to support.

She's not played a lot because she is underestimated by many people, but considering the winratios of Zyra mains, it really shows that she doesn't need a rework. In addition she is definitely viable in midlane; she has definitely got enough damage and she got lots of crowd control favouring her team in addition.

Nonsense.

I'm talking about Diamond and above. In Diamond such concepts as you are arguing have long since been dismissed in favor of pragmatism. People play what works and leave emotional nonsense by the wayside because they play-to-win.

Riot isn't reworking her out of capriciousness.

Explain why there are also Zyra mains in Master and Challenger ELO then?

That is a very poor quality question.

That being said; I don't remember saying she was underpowered.

Jo I played her till diamond V without any problems. I play her mid and jungle. You know sometimes the off meta stuff is the really good stuff, just cause some tards play only champs they think are meta and op, doesn't mean that there aren't great champs that just require a different mindset.

Hell no she is not subpar pick, you can easily play her mid and jungle till diamond without problems, and if I was better at the game (not zyra) I would also make it even further. It's like my favorite and best champ for ranked atm :P

Zyra needs Plant AI fixed (it has been bugged since she was released) Passive reworked E speed made faster Ulted Plants made untargetable for their duration Ult expand speed doubled

Thats it

I think just giving Zyra a new passive that interacted with her plants and also fixed her plant AI (and allowed it to always prioritize champions) Zyra would be perfectly viable in Mid lane again. She really doesn't need work elsewhere aside from maybe a movement speed buff.

Strahssis1 votes

That's true, a new passive would be enough. She really doesn't need more buffs. She got lots of damage and if you play her you should be willing to have a lack of mobility and slow ability casts. Plants prioritizing champions is a good idea! See more information about my opinion on Zyra's passive here:
