Sated Devourer is stupid. OP or not its whole design is stupid. Here's why.

There is no reason a jungler should benefit immensely from doing nothing but farm.

I just played a game against a Shyv where I killed top 3x and mid and bot once before Shyv ever ganked, we got first drag, and after we had a lack of coordination where we didn't group mid game, gave a drag up and then Janna got caught once, we could not push for the rest of the game, we had no jungle, couldn't go out to ward, and the Shyv who was completely out of touch with anything that had gone on for 25+ mins because obviously never helped secure objectives or anything, was now a fucking god.

Auto-attack junglers already have kits that encourage afk-farming instead of supporting their team and already require far less mechanics than other junglers, there is no reason to encourage this it makes the whole game stupid. Its bad for the meta. Its just stupid. Who on Riot keeps insisting on bringing these hyper-carry AS jungle items back? Fix Devourer and fire them so they can't fuck up our game anymore.

The jungle role should not be about finding which champ is the best at exploiting an item and then doing nothing but farm all game. There is no one but you in the jungle, its not hard to farm. If you want to just farm you should go to a lane. This is fair because now you have a laner and an enemy jungler to stop you so its still challenging. It should not be so that picking the role that has the least opposition and doing nothing but farming is the optimal strategy or remotely near optimal, it should not be rewarded or encouraged with special bonus stats that others don't get. How is that healthy?

your argument is minute tbh. becuase you could do the samething as devourer was before but now it has a ceiling once you ge sated the damage does not increase , before you can indefenitly stack devourer and farm more . the item itself is balanced

Shy is strong, but she is only strong if enemies have no peel. I used to play her at the peak of her power, when she can get out of the jungle 3+lvl more than anyone.

It doesn't change the fact that as long as a team has pee or the correct CC shy and is useless. Some champs like Kalista or vayne are designed to beat her. Shy without botrk cannot catch a Kalista, only get kited.

And as long as we are on the topic, devourer is not even good on shy

People are AFK farming because they are defaulting back to their old strategy. The new Devourer leaves plenty of room for tank heavy champions as well, so it's only a matter of time until that old strategy gets updated in the minds of players.

This just in, Runeglaive AND SD are both awful cancerous things that have ruined the game. They're in EVERY game now. I can count on one hand the number of games that hasn't had a mid ez or an SD jungler... often both. Hell, BOTH teams tend to have SD junglers.

It's Feral Flare 2.0.... or when Relic Shield was so good that it made junglers disappear. It's awful and I really, REALLY want it to go away.

Your post looks like an example of what balances Devourer more than anything. Shyvana chose to get Devourer, giving your team time to generate a huge advantage over hers, in exchange for getting very strong herself later. The fact that Shyvana let you guys get such a big lead is not why she should not be strong but why she deserves to be strong. She completely gave up early pressure in exchange for late pressure, what's unfair or poorly designed about that?

Whether or not Devourer junglers are getting too much late pressure is another thing - letting the enemy team get an early advantage is no excuse for being able to 1v5 from 20 minutes-onwards, but that's a numbers issue. Conceptually the concept of letting the enemy team have a strong early in exchange for you getting a powerful spike later on makes perfect sense, there's trade-offs there. You seem to think that you taking advantage of a Devourer jungler's initial lack of pressure on the map means they should be worthless for the entirety of the game but that's equivalent to saying "I got a solo kill on Cassio, she shouldn't be able to scale up later now". Of course you beat someone with a late game focus early on, but unless you press the early advantage you have super hard and close the game out before they catch up, you can't expect them to be irrelevant all game. That's just how late game champions and playstyles work.

Let me present a counter-argument: If there is no reward for farming, the only smart thing one does in the jungle is launch ganks.

The opportunity cost to rushing Sated Devourer is that your lanes go without ganks or jungle pressure during the first fifteen or twenty minutes of the game while you farm. The reward is that you roll out of the jungle with a pretty huge power spike for your team, especially if you snag a strong on-hit item like BotRK before doing so. That's an interesting tradeoff, and as such, having a reward for farming opens a new avenue for strategic diversity - which, you'll note, is one of the things they're trying to push this season.
