Recording My Gameplay

Ok so, and this may seem like a dumb question, I am aware of the replay option that is currently available in the LoL client. I am trying to make a video of my gameplay and maybe add some commentary over it without having to make it a stream being that my computer doesn't have the specs to stream Lol. I think the replay system is limited to the client, but is there anyway for me to record a video while talking over to make sort of my own gameplay video. Any feedback would help thank you.

You can, you just need the right tool.

If your computer doesn't have the specs to stream League, you might not be able to run the replay live and commentate on it (since that should be just as taxing as streaming, but without the internet connection). In that case, what I'd recommend is recording the video using the Replay tool first (you can set it up to record at highest quality, even if you can't normally play at highest quality), then record audio of you going over it, then merge the two together using something like Windows Movie Maker (or whatever replaced it).

However, if you want to try doing it all live I recommend OBS (Open Broadcast Software). You might need to have League in Windowed Borderless mode, I don't recall for certain though. It'll let you record what's on screen with your audio. Instead of sending the video to Twitch for streaming, you can set it to save to your local file system.

Ok so I think I'll merge my recorded audio with the replay since my computer isn't perfect for streaming and then I'll probably use a live stream when I get a new laptop. Is a headset good if I wanna do audio or should I invest in a mic.

A dollar store mic and a dollar store headset would be equally terrible, one's not inherently better than the other.

Many people who stream or do YouTube professionally (key word there) have some sort of sound proofing in the room they record in to help with the audio quality, everything from pillows on the desk and walls to recording audio in their clothes closet (Game Theory is well known for that technique, although it might not be best for streaming). If it was me, I'd use a headset to cut out some background sounds (I type very loudly), but you can use whatever works for you.

Alright well I'm gonna stick with my headset since I'm still new and not at the professional level yet, but thank you for the advice. I will use this for now and to help improve my video quality over time.

OBS, NVidia has a built in recording software if you have a GTX card, Razer Cortex, and technically Plays.TV

i'll keep that in mind when I get a new laptop for streaming bcuz my current computer is only good for recording not streaming.

If I may offer a suggestion, unless you absolutely need a laptop, and can only afford/use one computer, I highly recommend building your own desktop. Much better in the long run, and can teach you some valuable skills.

Well I'm about to go to college so I do need a laptop, but I may consider building a desktop during my time in college.
