I am soloq g5. he is soloq g1. we played all of our flex 3v3 placements together and got different ranks? He got s2 and I got s4. How on earth does that work?

I'm pretty sure your solo queue mmr does have some effect on your mmr in other modes, atleast to start if you're never been ranked in them before. It would be silly to put a challenger player with silver players just because they've never played ranked TT before. I could definitely be wrong though. Did you play TT in previous seasons at all?

Naw, I never finished my placements in past seasons. I was gold 5, and my brother was gold 2. So Could be that mmr makes a difference. And he did play a little better than me because well I may have trolled a little bit haha. So who knows.

It's based on performance, not wins. Just because you played in the same games doesn't mean you each did the same amount of work.

It isn't really clear how the MMR works in League, but I do remember back in HotS, your "base" rank for rank queues would be based on your normal MMR if you had no previous ranking in that mode before. That may be what caused the difference in ranks between the two of you. I ended up in the same situation (New Account, got placed P2, Friend I played with got placed P4).
