Why don't people play crit kogmaw anymore?

Back when he was reworked his kit heavily synergised with on hits. Fervor was an on hit at the time also. But his rework got pretty much reverted and now Fervor gives ad so why not crit?

Nobody ever played Crit Kog.

His core before the rework was item 3078 item 3153

Because most of Kog's damage is actually magic damage rather than AD. His W gives him percent health damage that scales off both AD and AP but the onhit affect is actually magic damage.

Because previous KogMaw was also on hit based. While Ferver does not really help him, I prefer Stormraider's on the current Kog'Maw. Most of his damage still comes from W. He doesn't have a ton of AD scaling, and the only ability that does will not benefit from AD.

You gain way m ore damage by focusing on making your W better (7% max hp damage as magic) with On Hits since they also usually load you up with AS.

Because if you just want to play him crit there are other better (re: safer, less squishy) adcs to choose from.

Kog'maw already has passive attack speed from his Q (attack speed is good for on hit) and an on hit active from his W. He has great synergy with most on hit items:

Kogmaw scales well with both AD and AP, meaning rageblade is a great choice on him. Since he does so much magic damage wit's end is a very solid item for him. His W scales with enemy's max health while BoRK scales with enemy's current health. Hurrican of course is a great item that provides both waveclear and allows you to apply the on-hit effects on multiple enemies.

On-hit focus champions still benefit from AD from Fervor...autoattacks scale with AD.
