Silver 5 Vs Plats Evey Game Isn't Fun

I don't know why it's happening. How does matchmaking work? I'm only Silver 5 and I want to grow and learn at my pace. I feel like I'm constantly being thrown into levels of play beyond what I understand and it's honestly making the game completely unenjoyable for me when I win, because I know every game afterwards will be the same thing over and over again. The worst part is that I'm consistently playing with silvers and low golds while in numerous cases the enemy team has multiple high elo players. This has even happened when I was playing with low level friends. How is that fair? I don't feel like I should have to make a smurf just so I can learn the game at my level and pace without being forced to try and learn those with mechanics I obviously haven't polished yet to that level and with friends who are just getting familiar with the game. Is there a way this can be stopped?
