What the hell happened to the ADC role?

I came back to League after about a 9 month hiatus, and I'm so confused about the current state of this game. What has happened that all these drastic changes had to be implemented this year? I guess 1000g bounties and turret armor is probably to facilitate extended games and comebacks, but why does Infinity Edge not deal 50% bonus crit damage anymore?

All the agency from that role has been utterly stripped, I couldn't do shit to help my team in my games even though I was rarely behind. I was getting my ass handed to me by 0/3 mages. I didn't think Riot would drastically nerf an entire class of important champions like this.

8.11 happened. But if you ask top and mid mains, they'll say ADC is fine even though they don't even play the role and have no fucking clue. :/

EDIT: And lookit there. Instantly there are a handful of Top and mid mains trying to say that the class is fine while using the "they're a late game scaling class!" as an excuse while blatantly ignoring Irelia, Jax, Fiora, GP, etc who all get to be "late game" at one item. Point proven. Thank you.

I mean where do you draw the line? People will be like "just because you're mr 7 on that champ, doesn't mean shit". Or "You don't play the champ, so you don't know what you're talking about"

You draw the line at this: Do you play a variety of champions in that class and role of champions? If the answer is yes, then clearly you have half a brain and know what you're talking about. Playing ADC once or twice because you're Autofilled really doesn't quantify you to speak on the balance of the class as a whole. One tricking the two ADCs who are currently completely over tuned(Lucian and MF) also doesn't qualify you. :/

I recall how much people were asking on Boards to buff Lucian because of how weak and unplayable he was. Now, he's a top tier 1 Marksman with the highest winrate and pickrate.

After 2 years of having Over effecient items Riot took the training wheels off.

Yea it’s almost like their scalings and weakness’ were designed in a way that required good itemization to counter out being the least naturally bursty and least tank role in game while rarely having enough cc to oneshot anyone unless their ahead. Every enemy has a gap closer for adcs and if not then they’re a mage who can one shot them with half the items before they can get an auto off now. Anyone pro playing adc knows marksman blow cock now even the good ones so idk why you’re in denial

You're right man,if Riot wants this 20 minute games then at least we should get cheap af items like assassins and tanks do. Stormrazor is a step in a right direction,i say nerf IE dmg to 60 or something and reduce its price to 2900

adc were broken since season 6 and now theyre balanced. thats what happened.

if youre playing a lategame class, building for lategame scaling item builds, dont expect to pop off with shiv+i.e. anymore. it was broken, and should have never existed.

season 7 and the ardent meta was the worst season in the history of this game. and thats saying a lot, considering there was season 6 with way too many class updates, and dynamic que.

ADC is just as broken as always and still full a crybabies that pretend like it's not. Now it's just non-crit champs doing the ass pounding of every other role in the game.

INB4 Irelia, Aatrox is OP too as if that somehow justifies how busted Lucian and Kai'sa have been for the past 3 months.

That's how the "ADC role" always is and stop with the bullshit all the big name ADC players will tell you champs like Lucian sucks despite him being like over 50% presence with retarded win rates for a champ picked that often.

You have been bound again to your power curve, that's what happened. A 0/3 mage with 2 items is in his powerspike, an ADC with 2 items should still be trying to acquire his. Being 3 shotted by statick + ie from a late game class was bullshit, and it's finally over. Now, if we could have late game back it would be awesome and ADC wouldn't feel like a burden waiting his time to shine.. That never comes in most of games

well you came back as pre-season started so some of the new drastic changes are just pre-season but you missed the part were adc role pretty much died for a bit and went into complete chaos and still hasnt recovered fully. lol

Yeah that part where ADC were only played in 95% of all games. While whining about being irrelevant.
That was good for a laugh. After Whole houses of Proplayers protesting that they couldnt deal with change. Here we are.
