Too much change...

I've been playing since season 1; so, I have seen an abundance of changes throughout that time to champions, spells, items, maps, and even interface changes. I could often see reasoning behind buffs/nerfs and general fixes, never doubting Riot was implementing these to better our gameplay. A couple times i was disappointed, but 95% of the time i whole-heartedly agreed with what they were doing. Of course, much time has passed since my days of FREQUENT play (7+ matches daily). Now I'm a bit of a casual, usually squeezing in a match or two a couple nights a week. To my dismay, i find myself having to re-learn how to play the game every two weeks because of the seemingly drastic changes that are made so frequently. I find out there's a new item: "Cool! That sounds great for my favorite mid-laner!" Next month: "What happened to that item? And what the heck is this?" I go to play one of my favorite classic champions: "Oh neat they upgraded his look!" In game: "Annnd... they changed all of his abilities... i have no idea what I'm doing."

I want to pinpoint instances as examples for those, but i cant single out any time that happened without sounding like I am mad over one change. It isn't that... It's the constant change of every single aspect in the game. I want things to stay constant in the game. I want to be able to lane against a champion that existed in season 1 and still know what he can do! I dont have time to research every patch note, read every champion bio, and go through the list of items before i start a match just to have the same advantage as someone who plays the game as much as i used to. I understand that to keep the consistency of the games balance you have to tweak and change some things around to make the numbers work for competitive play, but you dont have to delete a champion people invested time or money to purchase just to make a new one and give it the same name. It is just not fair to the fanbase.

Lastly, i have found matches of 5's are over in 20 minutes, whether is be due to a surrender, or one team completely overpowering the other and pushing for a quick win. Longer games still happen, but they are exceedingly rare as time goes on. I feel like it doesnt even matter if you lose your lane anymore, as long as the others do well you will still win. Maybe you need to increase the health of towers and inhibitors. They are jsut way too easy to down when you have 2-3 champions helping you. With 5 you can down them in a few seconds. That leaves no time for you to recall back and defend when youre trying to counter push a lane or down baron. The last match i played bot had lost their tower at 5 minutes.... 5! They had died once together and the enemies downed it in no time flat. Leaving them defenseless for the rest of the laning part of the game.

You have done great work as a company to give the players an awesome game that begs to be enjoyed. The only reason i write this to you is because i have enjoyed this game so much over the years, and it feels like youre making a turn for the worse. Please, consider what i have said. I am not the only person who feels this way.

Speaking as a player who only started playing LoL recently, the constant tweaks and changes are already a turnoff tbh. Even in the span of a week or two, the change is constant with tweak after tweak after tweak and a surprising amount of bugs that have to be fixed with every patch (which are also frequent, for better or worse). It seems like a game where part of the fun is figuring out things like what your preferred item sets are, build order, masteries, runes, etc, but the parameters those are based on are constantly in flux. Just looking at build guides online makes it easy to see the problem, as almost all of them are "out of date", even ones that were updated less than a month ago.

Obviously the game is pretty awesome in many ways as well; not trying to bag on it.

I also have been playing LoL since season 1 and it has changed way too much. I use to enjoy playing and now as an ADC main, you get 1 hit from most champions(even tanks). The game has changed and if you're not willing to keep looking at build guides and keep up with the meta, you will not do well. I'm not sure where the game went wrong but, it's frustrating having to change my runes/masteries and champions I use because the current meta doesn't allow that champion to be good at the role they were meant to play. I think if you follow the meta and follow streamers/LoL esports, you will do fine if you copy others builds. It's sad to see the new season that ADCs don't make much of a difference in games anymore. I think Riot keeps putting out new characters that they try to balance but, the balance is still very off. I stopped playing for a while and came back to get into it again and I can't seem to get into it.

sometimes things drift apart. when that happens there's really nothing riot can do to keep you. drift away my friend, you will find happiness elsewhere, i promise.

It's hard to do. League has always been a go-to game for me when nothing else seems appealing. But, you're probably right. Maybe it is time i give Dota 2 a shot. I played Dota on wcIII for years before LoL came out, and AoS on starcraft before that. MOBA has always been my favorite genre. I guess I will start the search for a new Moba that meets my standards. item 3070

If you don't like major changes and researching patch notes, then you're not going to be happy with Dota 2. You can come back from a break to find that the map doesn't even look like what it used to.
