AAtrox Q

I have recently been 'diving' into the Aatrox JG gameplay..with that being said the only issue, I find, is his Q and what can hit it.

So the idea is...he LEAPS into the air then dives back down...last game I played with Aatrox I was against a jinx..she fired her charged 'slow' bolt while I was in the air and it hit me..killing me and having to use bloodwell..which actually looked really cool cause I was frozen in mid air recharging.

Now if you use your imagination and logic then a skill used to target frontal ground units hitting a champion flying through the air .. makes no sense. I am thinking the targeting of Aatrox itself is slightly off...as like throwing a rock at a bird only to find the bird launched up and you still hit it.

I am curious on why the mechanics are still triggering from ground assault to air born champions. I also tried to Q over Veigar's stun wall only to find myself getting stunned. I can see AA's being able to hit Aatrox in the air as they can aim and hit the person...skill shots such as Morgana's Q...Ezreal's anything or even Yas's tornado being able to hit something above them.. when in fact they have no way of determining the variants or degrees of such a shot would affect an air born target.

This would also take into consider those who get knocked up ...other then a skill specifying a target in the air it would only act as a slight stun...still effective in removing the target from combat for that duration...not in the way a stun or snare would.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it's odd but it's how the game engine/system works (I'm no tech expert). Every champion, regardless of how high they leap of the ground is still considered to be on the ground; their 'hit-box' is still hovering on the ground. That's how flying Tristanas can still get hooked by Thresh mid jump, or how Kha'Zix still gets CCed mid-jump.

I'm not sure how difficult that really is to script into the game, but it would be a cool addition to the game to be able to dodge skillshots vertically. What Riot would still need to address, if vertical skillshot interaction was implemented, is the triggering of traps by champions who are "flying" (Corki, Valor[Quinn], Anivia, etc.)

Most likely you would need to add a flag to all skill shot abilities (just so all abilities have the same flags for compatibility) if it is ground or not and have a condition on the jump ability that they can't be hit during that time.

It will take a little time to implement for all the abilities, but not overly complicated unless abilities care coded much more differently than other games.

They shoulöd make it the jump in the air untargetable, like fizzs E.

Yeah, I've been stopped mid Kha'zix leap by Sion's ground pound. Does that make any sense? Nope. Does it piss me off? A bit, not because I should be able to get out, but because I can't tell until I'm hit whether I'll get out or not because of the awkward angle.

The things that piss me off are Panth stun, which stuns you even if you flash out, and J4 ult, which does damage to you even if you flash/dash out and it completely misses. It treats them like auto-attacks, which go when the animation goes, as opposed to targeted abilities, which can end if you lose vision.
