Masteries for Varus?

I'm having a difficult time on what masteries to choose for Varus. I've been told 12/18/0 going with Thunderlords. Also been told to go 18/12/0 with Fevor and Warlord Bloodlust. As of now i'm running Thunderlords and it has not done me wrong by any means.

Thanks for all your help. If you like to leave me some tips on the best option and why you think why that will be highly appreciated thanks!

i go 18/12 deathfire touch using the same masteries i do on jihn and it works very well. I dont like thunderlords personally as most of the game im only using my q for poking til the team fights start. I rather have the extra damage from deathfire in the laning phase than the harder to proc thunderlords.Thats just me though if something works for you by all means keep using it. See ya on the rift

I would go 18/12. You can go any of the 3 masteries you feel you need for the given game. Feel like you need more auto damage? Fevor. Need sustain in lane for fights? Warlords. Want more poke damage (which you should take most of the time)? Deathfire.

Take fervor/warlords if you plan to go adc, take DFT or TL if you plan to go mid

DFT for poke lane or poke comps (especially vs Soraka), Fervor for being an actual trading/teamfighting ADC. You shouldn't really need to run Warlord on Varus unless they have a support that can harass and heal all day like Nami, but DFT still works there.

Thanks guys very helpful. Now I have another question for you. What items should I be using? I've seen several different builds, I know most Items are adjustable to the enemy team, but I'm talking more of a core set that you get on Varus every time. If there isn't a core simply just state why. Thanks for the help all of you guys.
