There are Rylais, Morellos, Void Staff, Liandries, Sorcerers Boots, Deathcap, Abyssal and Ludens that are a solid base.
The other items are nichè items. Seraphs might be good on whom? 3 champions? 4? Mejais is cocky, Sighstone is mostly/only built by supports, Lichbane is built on a handfull of champions, the Hextech items see very little play outside of Kennen/ASol players and Gunblade on AP assassins.
As compared to Assassins who legit all build the same 3 items because there ar eonly 3 assassin items
ADCs who all build the same 3 items
tanks that all build the same 3 items.
Mages actually HAVE the options. You shouldnt BE building items willy nilly. Items being niche is the point and proof you have item diversity because you have the options for the situation that is called upon. Every other class doesn't have this or at least a far cry from what mages and AP champs have. it snot even funny.
That's it. AP itemization right now boils down to: "Build the same idiotic stuff every game." AD has a way bigger viable AND optional pool of items.
If you are building the same idiotic stuff every game as an AP, you must have a very spotty and inconsistent tract record, or a very shallow champ pool... or both.... Take your pick.
But I eh, Ill wait for my downvoted by my fellow mage players since it seems I'm the only one on the board that isn't a bias baby with blinders on.
