The, "Leaving the Game/AFK," Report Category Is Pointless

For starters, having this category makes the assertion that leaving during the middle of a game is inherently a bad thing to do. Sure, abandoning your teammates is most definitely going to hinder your team's chances of winning, but that doesn't necessarily make it right that the blame gets put onto the player. There are dozens of legitimate reasons that could cause a player to end up leaving a game midway through, such as having their internet connection cut out, their game crash, or having something come up in real life. On the other hand, there are a number of illegitimate reasons that players leave games, such as not liking how their teammates play, or their team refuses to surrender when they want to. The problem with this is that if a player says nothing before leaving, how are their teammates supposed to know the circumstances of them leaving? You have no knowledge of their reasons why they disconnected, so how are you supposed to know if whether they left because they hate you, or because their internet went out? You don't know, so your choice is either to report them anyway when their actions were potentially not out of malice, or to not them at all. If a player disconnected due to having a bad internet connection, how is reporting going to help change anything? After all, that's the whole point of the Tribunal system: To help improve the playerbase. Reporting someone isn't going to fix their internet connection, prevent their game from crashing, or prevent life from happening in general.

Either way, there is already a system in place that automatically punishes players that habitually leave games, which makes the whole report category even less meaningful. The only reasonable explanation of why the category should even be used is for players who don't disconnect, but don't exactly contribute to games. (Ex: Wander around their base doing nothing.) Still, this is more in line with not participating rather than leaving the game, and doesn't fall in line with that report category. A category that would better encompass the offense would be, "Refusing to Participate," or something to that effect.

What are your thoughts on this?

You're not going to get punished for a power outage or a rare important thing. If you play the game only when you can spare the time for the match, you won't get banned. In fact, I'm pretty sure the afk system is all automated and that report option is just for context for players who have also been reported for other things. Also, the tribunal doesn't exist anymore and has been replaced with a fully automated system, so the report for afk thing probably does nothing anyways now.

The reason it exists is for the people who AFK at the fountain and click now and then so leave buster doesn't catch them, or who run away from team fights and farm wolves while saying in chat: "I'm AFK, noob team."

These people are the worst. If you're going to afk, do it properly and face it like a woman/man/any-gender.
