Size as a stat

I noticed that recently that there has been an inclusion of size as an adjustable stat (first it was Cho'gath's feast, then Lulu's ult, then Zac's increasing size as his HP goes up, and then finally Nunu's Q when used on Stony Bros). With addition of the Elixir of Iron, in place of a traditional stat bonus as all the others have, it has the 25% size increase. This is the first time Riot has made it possible for players to buy an item to make their champs bigger. I'm wondering if Riot has a plan for this, and whether or not it has a practical use besides being more of an obstacle for single target blockables like Caitlyn's ult, or Xerath's E. Also, i think it would be hilarious if someone took advantage of this as a joke (Baron-sized Zac, anyone?)
