Syndra buff?

So I have decided to get back into playing syndra, and have been enjoying her a lot these past few days. But she seems a little weak nonetheless compared to most mid mages this meta. I know it is because they are super strong etc. but i still feel syndra could use a little help. So my ideas are to possibly make her W more reliable. Using it in lane is so hard unless you land her stun, it looks extremely buggy and it travels so slow that if you dont land your stun the enemy laner can just juke you out. Maybe we could make her W a bit faster? or make its range a little bigger? Another idea i have is to her ultimate. Im gonna go out on a limb with this idea and i feel i might get backlash for it, but what if on her ult each spheres individual damage was increased a little, but her sphere cap would be reduced down to 6 rather than 7. Getting a good 7 sphere ult off in a teamfight is nearly impossible, it used to be so much easier back when you could grab 3 spheres with your W ( Sadly it was removed :(( maybe let us pick up 2 at max rank and reduce the true damage ;o ) Anyways those are my ideas, fellow syndra players lmk what you think, and to those of you who already think syndra is OP UNBALANCED OOF, sry.

It’s not even that she’s hard to play. It’s her w just doesn’t synergize with the rest of her kit anymore. It’s so slow her stun doesn’t even hold them in place for it anymore.

what? i can consistently hit it and they get out of the stun ~.5 second later. You have to instantly W and not walk all the way to pick up the Q thats out of your range after you E'd it. Either have one next to you beforehand or use a minion.

i agree that the w sometimes feels a bit slow tho i wouldnt really touch her abilities (but i think the w radius nerf is what killed her) if they dont want to give her a bit more power on w they should just give her better base stats like +5 ms and a bit of base hp

her w needs the delay between pick up and throwing removed and some of her mana costs could stand to be buffed so she can actually farm pre 3 mana items

Syndra is not weak at all and doesn't need any buffs. She could use a bugfix or a 2 but thats about it

Syndra is so polarizing that there is no reason and never has been to pick veigar / velkoz ever (well as far as mid goes)

She is a better version of both champs. Take it from a Syndra main she doesn't need buffs just try to improve your mechanics

Veigar: You pick Syndra for early/mid, you pick Veigar for late. Pro play wise, Syndra is better. Soloq wise, it depends, but currently, Veigar is doing better.

Vel'Koz: Vel'koz is much more like Xerath than he is like Syndra. He has more range/AoE, she has more lockdown/single target burst. Both have different roles. Neither invalidates the other to exist.

Syndra is not a polarizing champion. She has only been problematic from mid-season 6 (when Riot broke her), until mid-season 7 (because Riot had no clue how her kit worked and made her overpowered by giving her broken mechanics). The only other time she was strong was in season 4. She was weak in s2, s3, s5 and s8 (buffed multiples times in s2/s3, barely played in s5, and buffed in s8).

People like to say she is ''polarising'' because of her ultimate being point and click/people getting frustrated when dying to it, when in reality, she has clear strengths and weakness, and her ultimate is the only reliable part of her kit.

Also, saying she is ''not weak at all'' is not true. She lost an important mechanic with her W last patch (it was a bug, but a mechanic she used for more than a year, and not mentionned in the patch notes). She is not terrible, but she is on the weaker side. She is near the bottom of high-elo soloq this patch (and no, she is not balanced for low-elo, she's even worse there).

Syndra definitely needs W bug fixes and a revert to the mechanic she lost with her W in 9.4.

The only time you pick Veigar is if you cant afford Syndra since he is cheaper. Syndra is way higher skillcap then veigar which results in her having to have low winrate to be balanced

Syndra outclasses veigar in the following:

Mobility (as she can move while casting) Singletargeted burst (As veigar needs to nuke a low HP target) Range (by around 100 on average) Cast times Ease of hitting abilities AOE damage PICK OFF Scuttle / buff control LvL 1 cheese She is also harder to gank as she can deny dashes with Her E reactivly (Their spam ability is even since latest veigar W cooldown buff)

What does veigar have over syndra? 2-3% less mana issues His stun is situationally better against hyperactive melee champs

Now Veigar is not far from becoming a botlane mage and this is a direction Riot should try pushing him

3 minutes in Velkoz champion spotlight I said ok so this shit is just worse Syndra what a trash champion. Stayed true till this day Never has velkoz surpassed Syndra. He is literally outclassed in every possible aspect.

If voidstaff ever gets disabled due to bug you can pick Velkoz.

If any LCS player picks Velkoz/Veigar mid he better have A GODAMN GOOD reason to do it over syndra

I feel quite polarizing playing her. I stun them from high range and they die.. When I play velkoz I dont feel polarizing I feel like a wierd weak tentacle syndra (and no there is nothing wrong with my Velkoz mechanics fking autopilot champ)

Syndra is on the weaker side of the perfect balance bar, but by no means weak. She can do her job very effectively and has clear weaknesses and strengths. Her core weakness is mobility and less of AOE than some of her fellow counter parts. Syndras power lies in the fact that she has burst and does not need to stop moving to do anything except AA.

Her kit is complex, but if I was going to buff anything it would be the duration of Spheres post passive upgrade so that CDR is not so necessary on her for a 7 Sphere combo. And some movement speed to make her feel a bit smoother. She needs no additional damage.

Her W is a bit messy, and clear QE combos don't seem to work. The E does not knock back targets some times like a Kha'zix leap. Over all though these are more than likely bugs.

Jenivie1 votes

yeah the 7 sphere ult is hard to pull off, they should bring back the sphere duration increase but maybe not have it increased by 2 seconds at max rank like before, maybe 1.5?

I think 1 second is all you need here's why.

Syndras Q last 6 seconds on the ground and she has a 4 second cool down. A perfect combo would be Q1 4 seconds Q2 grab Q1 4 seconds throw and Q1 / Q3 / R for 6 spheres (3 are passive) You cannot wait for a 7th since the cool down is 2 seconds longer than the duration of Q2.

Q2 is the only important Q as it is your actual timer as Q1 will be grabbed.

With 20% CDR her Q time drops to 3.2 seconds So Q1 3.2 seconds Q2 3.2 seconds Q3 grab Q1 if you wait 3.2 seconds again your Q2 will disappear So at even at 20% CDR you are still unable to use 7 spheres (and 35%)

With 30% CDR her Q time drops to 2.8 seconds So Q1 2.8 seconds Q2 2.8 seconds Q3 grab Q1 if you wait 2.8 seconds again your Q2 will disappear you then have .4 seconds to Q4 then throw Q1 and R. This is doable but highly unrealistic

With 40% CDR her Q time drops to 2.4 seconds So Q1 2.4 seconds Q2 2.4 seconds Q3 grab Q1 2.4 seconds you then have 1.2 seconds to Q4 then throw Q1 and R.

So clearly, 40% and 35% CDR are the only realistic thresholds for 7 sphere combos.

With 1 second 20% CDR is all you need. You gain a .6 second window which is small but definitely doable all game.

With 30% that becomes a luxrious 1.4 seconds and 40 % is 2.2 seconds.

This changes Syndra to making a choice. Do I want to go CDR and have more time to get my damage off reliably? Or just spam regardless if I miss the Q's and get a nice ult off with more damage? Or Should I go a bit more defensive even though it has no CDR Ryalis for instance. 1.5 seconds is a huge window that allows for easy ults early and even at 10% CDR can still use a 7 sphere combo with a .3 second window. Unrealistic but possible.

Her mechanic of being able to pick up her sphere during a QE and throw it back (pick it up and throw it from out of range) has been removed in 9.4 without being mentionned in the patch notes (and it's been a mechanic for more than a year). It hurt her a lot in high elo.

She needs W bug fixes and she needs to be able to pick up her spheres with W (W1) from a longer range (but not increase the throw range (W2)) to help fix the mechanic that is now gone.

As someone who just got fucked by a syndra, im gonna say hell no. I dont play a lot of syndra but i do play orianna who is somewhat similar. Syndra is like the more damage focused version of orianna (who had more supportive qualities). Her q is easy to hit, W is easy to hit, and e is relatively easy to hit for a hard cc. Plus the point and click nuke? Nah.

Jenivie3 votes

just because you got obliterated by her doesnt mean she doesnt deserve bugfixes/buffs

sobi9993 votes

None of her abilities are easy to hit. Unless , you confused syndra with Zed.

Would you oriannas abilities are hard to hit? Syndra is about the same.

Her W could maybe build up damage and get a bigger damage radius and slow the longer you keep it, reaching max value once you kept it for let's say 1 second.

Could be used as a more effective zoning tool this way; right now, there is no reason to pick up something with your W without instantly throwing it. (apart from trolling junglers)

Sure of they change her Ult to stop once she is dead.
