So is Rengar top a thing?

I started playing Rengar just due to the free week, and I've been having SO much fun with him. I think his kit is a blast and his passive just makes for a super entertaining gameplay all around. Additionally, TP + ult makes for a decent map presence leading into late game. The thing is, I've only seen Rengar in the jg. Literally never played on or against a team that runs a Rengar top. For any experienced Rengar players - how viable do you find him in top lane? I know it depends on playstyle, etc, but just humor me.

Rengar top shoul be good, even if he has hard match up like renekton, good Cassiopea after 6, Riven, Ryze with the new coming buff. Hecarim and moakai outscale Rengar even if rengar takes an early kill. Darius always beat you, no metter what( words of Dekar, best top Rengar Na). Irelia and Jax are skill match up. Fiora and Cho are very hard. The great problem with rengar is that He doens't have an escape, so he easily campered by every jungler and if Rengar fall early game, he become useless because item dipendent

Yeah. I actually caught a stream with a guy who's really talented at Rengar, goes by Best Rengar NA. Here's a video of his from a few days ago. He does a lot of teaching, so you can learn a lot from him.

You basically play Rango split-push style, going full damage and assassinating whenever you're ult's up and you can get a catch.

I could see it being effective, though maybe not in the current meta. Rengar has some of the best all in burst damage in the game. though he has to pick when he goes in since his escape afterward is non existent unless its a catch during rotation so he can potentially ult out.

He can be played as a tanky bruiser as well, not just an assassin. Build Sunfire Cape on him, max W first, and you have a really strong early game and good waveclear.

Rengar top is definitely a thing! It used to be a lot more popular before the semi rework and I loved playing him top, might get back into it soon. Anyway look up a streamer by the name of Ryan Choi, he's probably one of the most talented rengar players out there. Good luck dude!

It really does depend on play style. Lately, I've been playing him as a full tank top laner and I'm having a blast. Currently, I'm 7-1 on tank Rengar in ranked. If you're looking for a video demonstrating how to do tank Rengar, it's best to look up Korean players like this.

just wanted to say i like the champ rengar in an abstract way i suppose, and more power to those of you who play him... i hate playing him, but i like it when he's on my team normally, cuz he's scary

Its quite good, he can get a lot of damage because of the passive and the bushes that top lane has. He can also more gold and better items, making it more easy to carry

his top lane is just as good as his jungle, there isnt a real diff on it. you just have to know his mechanics. and i run ghost on him not flash. less cd and u gltich ur passive

Top lane used to be his main role. He was barely a jungler and then they did the rework... So yes he works in top lane but they intenionally made him better in the jungle.
