I personally think it should help the lanes by giving ganks where its needed and helping when someone falls behind and in-between getting objectives like drag and baron

Farm the jungle to make efficient use of available gold and experience.

Control objectives (dragon, herald, towers).

Control vision (sweeping wards, maintaining vision of river and/or enemy jungle, Scuttle Crabs).

Gank lanes when an opportunity arises (prioritizing lanes as appropriate for the game).

Also, you generally want to avoid lanes which fall behind. At most, you can neutralize the lane (when that player already managed to lose in a neutral setting).

It is typically better to assist the winning (or neutral) lanes since they are already demonstrating competence and are less likely to throw any lead you give them.

Objectives and farm are priority. Gank in between them when you see an opportunity.

The part about helping them...

If a lane is completely lost, like 5-6 deaths in the first 10 minutes, don't gank them. Its a lost cause because you will most likely die trying, on top of 1 or both of them. It is best to help the lanes that are ahead to snowball more ahead because they are the ones most likely to carry the game.

A good jungler should choose from the available win conditions for the team (split-push, team fight, individual snowball, single lane snowball, catch the moron on the other team 1000 times and make him rq, etc) and then develop the selected win conditions, while suppressing win conditions from developing for the other team.

Well, a good jg of course can't gank every time they are asked, if a jg is ganking too much, they'll be underleveled and so laners need to give jg'ers time to farm

I don't focus on the jungle aspect of the game, I'm more of a Mid lane and sometimes ADC, but I think there are a few important characteristics in junglers that I look for when queuing with people. I like to have Hank's often but in mid lane if your winning lane you don't need them. I think the jungle should focus on farm up until lvl 6. Occasionally a gank to top or a small gank to mid is ok in those pre-6 levels. I think the jungler, once level 6 is acquired, should be banking Bot lane frequently since the first tower gold is important in bot lane. But, he shouldn't forget about all the lanes, get the bot lane pushed up, then go help any struggling lane. And of course you can't forget about drag and baron. The jungler should get drag after a couple tanks to bot lane. After the enemy ADC and support know you leave their lane, you go a solo drag. These are just my opinions and I'm in no way shape or form a professional and I'm probably not even qualified to give any advice. But those are my opinions on what I think a jungler should do. Zed
