TLDR _: If you leveled a new account and do decent in placements this first season on your new account you can potentially do much better than Bronze players last season who have improved. That's effectively punishment for the games lowest level players. _
I am being (and players like me are being) punished for 2 reasons:
**1. I didn't do well my first season and was only Bronze I at my highest. **
Thanks for the slap on the wrist for my improvement, but a pat on the back or a solid thumbs up would be more appropriate, appreciated and significantly less discouraging.
2. There are underhanded people with too much spare money laying around who pay others to level them and Riot is yet to come up with a solid course of action to prevent these instances.
_Hell, I wish I had money to just throw away like that, but I don't. The thing is you don't grade everyone down on a test because you can't find the person in the class cheating. I have a few ideas on ways to find/punish those users, but nothing that hasn't been discussed before. You've instituted decay, which I don't entirely disagree with. I understand the need for it, but it punishes people unjustly also. (My GF was Gold Season 1 and near the end of the season she moved home to take care of her dying mom, and received Silver because she was in and out of hospitals and treatment centers a lot. That's a kick in the tenders. Sure, she was where she needed to be. That doesn't make it right or okay.) _
Yes, I understand that as long as I keep improving my play and play another hundred games or more likely hundreds of games(*) that I too can be low Silver one day. I just don't feel that this significant of a punishment is right. I'm not in the mix for Challenger/Master/Diamond/Platinum. Make placement 20 games or 25 games if you need to attain a more accurate representation of where someone's rank should fall, and make the higher levels increasingly more cut throat if you must.
_One major thing I enjoy about this game is you can play it in spurts. Every game is a new game. You don't miss out on epic loot from a dungeon boss because you didn't have the DKP because you can only raid every other week. There may be slight advantages if you don't have the best runes or you don't own the best counter picks, **but this "soft" reset is a hard punishment, especially for Bronze and low Silver level players who have improved, as you could actually attain a better ranking without having ever played a previous season. ** The game is, in essence, becoming unfriendly to your people who are more than casual but fall short of hard core. I don't mind not being able to buy every champ, and every rune or the fact that unless I pay an ungodly amount of money at this point I'll never "catch them all," but playing even a hundred games to attain a ranking that I already had, when I've quite noticeably improved to better than that and could have just got a new account instead, is asinine, unjust and quite frankly makes me rethink even playing the game at all. _
**(*)You're just not going to win 50 in a row (unless you really are paying a ridiculously higher level player to boost your account) - thanks for that bit of ridiculous information in the PSA, but there are incessant AFKs and trolls because they just aren't punished severely enough. (That's another topic entirely, as is the ridiculous level of toxicity of the community.)
