For kids new kata is better cuz she can oneshot all easy but for old kata mains we all missing Q E W spam its not the same mehanics are diffrent and kata is not kata if new kata is better than 5 years old good kata then idk but rito made mistake with her also old client was much more better so thats all for me i just wanna old client back or old kata back rito fucked up game now

Counterplay potential doesn't matter at all when 75% of the champs in this game have targeted nukes.
Old Katarina was a lot more simple at first sight, but she did have complexity. Additionally, she was still healthy as she did not go for duels and 100-0 (most of the time) and she relied on her team to get 1-5 people low before she popped off.

The new Kat cannot burst someone that fast anymore because nearly all of her damage comes from her daggers passive pick-up. The daggers not only dont deal damage until they fall, and they are very clearly shown on the ground. With proper positioning, no Kat player will win lane.
People do not complain about her more now... You were either not playing back then or don't remember too well. And the people who complained about her back then had a point. There wasnt much you could do back then when she could even use Deathfire Grasp to add to that instant burst damage. She's never been more balanced than she is now. Is she a tad strong in the current meta of high damage runes? Yes, of course she is. But that is a matter of balancing runes and their burst in general. All champions deal so much damage right now. Kat will be better after a look at AP items, runes, and number tweaks which will happen anyway with the preseason end.

New Kat can't burst someone that fast anymore? Ah, is that why people are dying to one dagger+Gunblade+Shunpo? You're right, with proper positioning no Kat player will win lane, yet you forget this is League of Legends, a game known for its autism.
More people do complain about her now, hence why if people say she's absolutely busted. She was only an annoyance to people pre-rework, now they view her as a "scum-fuck" champion.
Look, I main Kat, and I've done so for 7 years now, never have I actually encountered anyone who has said that pre-rework Kat was broken, because let's be real here, she wasn't. She was situationally good but that's about it. She lost lane to pretty much everyone, which gave her a clear weak point in the game and she only really steamrolled if her opponents didn't know what she did.
Furthermore, the rework turned her more into this AP version of Riven. As such she's hardly an assassin anymore as much as she is a mobile skirmisher.
Poro Princess1 votesWell you're ignoring some stuff I said. She can't delete someone that fast because, like you said it yourself, she needs a dagger pickup to do that damage. That dagger pickup is heavily delayed since the rework and it can be counter-played by just avoiding the daggers. If players are bad and have bad positioning, why shouldn't they be punished with taking damage? Isn't that the whole point of the game? And no, champion balance shouldn't be based on fast button mashing, that would make people with low ping have a very clear advantage over someone with average ping. Counterplay and skill expression is about making the right choices, at the right time, not by simply being lucky enough to have your button presses be noticed by the server first. This isn't something you can guarantee, but it's something you should aim for.
But clearly, if you heavily despise new Kat, I can't and frankly don't want to change your mind on it. You play whoever you want to play. So I'll just end this reply with, I'll respectfully disagree with your opinion.
Śhunpo1 votesWell, in terms of the ping argument I disagree. If someone is disadvantaged because of ping that's their own fault. If they're still playing a game at home that requires a good connection to be playable then maybe it's not the best idea to be competitive with it.

ALSO, you do know that ping hardly even came into the equation if you knew your champion well enough. Hell, look at Flyerbek, he plays on like 100 ping average and he was still able to do plays a korean Kat with 7 ping could do. It's called adaptation and muscle memory. As such, the game has not come to the point where it's "pay2win" in terms of internet.
Yes, old Katarina had a lot of counterplay and skill expression, hence why if you fucked up even one ability during your reset spree you insta-popped. Stop trying to say that she's took no skill, because we all know that's a misconstrued lie.

the new kata is way better and is more challenging to play than the old kata.

She is way better in terms of viability, but that's an issue since so many people are complaining about her, which will likely turn her back into a worse version of old Kat, this time with avoidable daggers.
