Friend Told Me This Game Was Better Than Ever Before...

Title says it all. Keep in mind, the last time I played was about Mid S3, maybe start of S4. One of my MOBA junkie friends mentioned this game in passing, claiming it was better than ever. Figured, why the hell not? I'll reinstall it again. Spent the past week getting into the flow of things again.

And... I'm not seeing it. Am I just blind, where is the "better than ever before part"? You have all of about 30 champions in a roster of 133 that see continuous play. Apparently the jungle was reworked again, and supposedly I just missed the season that allowed... "unconventional" champions to actually jungle and do it well. Now, if you're not an attack damage heavy champion you pretty much can't jungle. I was so excited to try to jungle as Poppy... and nope. Even off-tanks can't jungle now; AD junglers pretty much walk circles around off-tanks because they kill faster. Maybe instead of continuing to adjust the jungle itself, you need to take a look at jungler items... like you seem to have done with every other item in the game BUT the jungle ones. I'd enjoy the current jungle if jungle items offered a little bit of AP or AD specifically for tanks.

Granted I've not touched Ranked since I've been back, so I suppose it might be different there in regards to champion selection, but at this point I strongly doubt it. Everyone picks the same champions all the time because they're stronger than the rest. It feels like the game is less about player skill and more about who gets lucky with the FoTM champion first. I realize you can't balance ALL the heroes, but there should be no reason you can't properly do diversity... right? Right?

I dunno, it just feels like the game has not changed at all since S3-ish, and I originally quit because of most of the above things. 3-4 years is a long time to not play a game, and then come back to find that nothing really changed...
