The true meaning of Elo hell

Let me start off by saying that I dont claim to be pro or even great player in any way. However I have noticed a certain pattern over many ranked games which reflects the true meaning of elo hell. The problem is that your elo essentially forces you to play worse. Even if you know what the right play is you are forced to make the wrong play because your team will never be convinced to make the right play. For instance lets say you destroyed mid inhibitor. The logical thing to do would be to push any other lane because mid is already pushed by super minions. This way if the enemy defends the lane you are pushing super minions will destroy their base. However most silver/gold players think that the right play is to group mid and force a teamfight in the enemy base. So at this point you are left with 2 options: 1)Do the right play but without your team and pray that while u are pushing e.g. top they wont engage 4v5 mid and die 2)Do the wrong thing with your team and pray that you win the teamfight that you should have never took in the first place

I could probably give thousands of examples similar to the above. And this folks is the epitome of elo hell. You are not rewarded for knowing what the right play is because that play can't be made if your team is not gonna follow you in doing it. Therefore you are forced to make the wrong play.

Your example has a few holes:

Mid push is actually the right move if the opposing team has no front line and cannot defend you picking them off as you push. It's faster, more efficient, and doesn't give them a chance to farm lane minions for a recovery.

Pushing secondary lanes is the right move when they have a strong tanky front line and can stall out a mid push.

Easier example. You have a lead, but one of your players is insistent on a baron kill. You see Lux/MF/Renekton (one of them)roaming in their jungle, but your team decides to listen to the one person and force the baron anyways, with no % damage hits. Baron fight takes too long, and no one reacts at all when they get attacked at half HP.

There's no way you could EVER have that be the right choice.

I do understand the sentiment. I really do. When smurfing, sometimes I literally have to cross 3/4 of the map just because I can tell a fight is about to break out bottom and snowball the game. Or, a team doesn't understand why I'm split pushing with a jungler when I'm 15/1/10 and the rest of the team is like 2/5. They engage in the 4v5 anyways, and somehow it's my fault when I kill 2 turrets and they all die in 3 seconds. (I wasn't split pushing to shun them. I was split pushing to make the other team think about sending 1-2 people to stop me, so that their clown 5v4 becomes a 4v3 or 4v4..... and the other team missing their most competent player..... the one who would come to stop me)

Tbh I've found it elo hell is lack of macro in general. I played for an extra 5 minutes yesterday with a team where we were wildly ahead because they didn't know that with 3/5 of the enemy team dead we could just go do Baron and finish. In the end i just pinged wildly with my support and wrote in chat "Baron now PLEASE... We take this we win!" and finally they listened. I could see the "throw" starting and had to honour the Alistar for being the only one to take notice. We won in 20 seconds with baron....

There's nothing worse then seeing an early lead go down the toilet because your team don't know how to play the game =/

I’m in gold and I sometimes lose games because of this shit. Teams ahead, they start trying to be funny diving their base or chasing and costs us the game.
