Gangplank - Urgot interaction balance

About half of a month ago, I played Gangplank into a match with an Urgot on the enemy team. The problem wasn't immediately apparent because I took GP mid while the Urgot was in top lane, however once teamfights became regular I noticed that Urgot's W automatically targeted GP's placed powder kegs. Since Urgot's W is a toggled ability now instead of a timed one, you can see how this would prove troublesome for GP to do anything to anyone with a high level Urgot nearby. I incorrectly sent in a support ticket relating to this and was referred here (love u Eric). I find it unreasonable for Urgot to entirely counter the main source of Gangplank's damage with no effort.

Gangplank w heavy countersUrgot ultimate so...

I find that it's still an unfair matchup regardless, since Urgot can entirely prevent GP from doing any meaningful damage for the most part. It's like a slightly less impactful silence, but that silence has no cooldown and requires no effort to use. Sure, you can eat an orange to exit his ult, but him bringing you down the point where he can ult you is far less favorable for GP.

As someone who plays neither champion.

I find it unfair that GP has a QSS on a low cooldown that also heals for a % of his missing hp.

GP's W can also invalidate Urgot, WW, Skarner, Malzahar ults.

It's far from a favorable trade in this interaction, losing a majority of your damage output without any enemy effort. Plus, it's easy to bait out a GP into using an orange before using an ult that can be cancelled. If GP mistimes his orange and uses it in the middle of a CC chain, he's screwed. Gangplank W has at least 14 seconds of cooldown, so it should be treated as a fair workaround. Bait him into using his orange, then once it's down, use whatever ult you planned on using. Also, this is nitpicking, but GP's W escapes Malzahar's suppression, but the full damage still happens regardless.

then you must think every marksman must be nerfed because they can obliterate your barrels from distance, right?

Marksmen at least have the burden of having to right click on your barrels at the right time, Urgot simply has to be near them with his W on, which isn't uncommon since barrels have to be near him to do any damage.

by the time urgot comes near your barrell to destroy it (meaning it already tickled once or twice) you just unleash another barrell where it stands and chain detonate it for easy damage, i really don't see the issue honestly

With GP's barrel cooldown and how fast Urgot W takes down barrels, I'm not sure if your solution is possible in actual play. I would love to be proven wrong, but as it stands, I genuinely doubt that this is possible, let alone convenient to pull off regularly.

A follow up regarding those that believe GP W makes this fight balanced:

Ezreal Shaco get an empowered summoner 4 as part of their kit. Shen TwistedFate get an empowered summoner 12 in their kit. Zac Anivia get a item 3026 . Champions having better versions of abilities found elsewhere is not uncommon, nor an exception for Gangplank's kit. Imagine it as Alistar v Urgot in lane, sure Alistar can use his R to escape Urgot R, but would you intrinsically value that as a fair fight because of that alone? I would hope not, since Alistar is unable to do any meaningful damage, and neither can GP in this scenario, making it a fair analogy.

are you kidding? that's some pretty exploitable material right there, while fighting him place barrels around him to force his attacks to do nothing to you for a full second, that's a pretty good way to win a 1v1 against him

As I said, in this interaction, GP loses his primary way of dealing damage, making it an unfair fight.
