Getting secondary role in ranked matches

Cue rant.

I queue for mid/top. so why do I get top EVERY game? I understand mid is the most played position however its ridiculous that I cant get mid at least half of the time. I honestly get mid 1 in 5 ranked games. Therefore the only way I can consistently get mid lane is to duo with a top laner, however, I don't want to duo queue. It's not like I even have support or fill secondary, my secondary is another semi-popular position, and I am just so fed up of having to ask for mid lane every god damn game. I would rather just have longer queue times tbh.

Recently it has got even worse and I have been given mid once in my last 11 games. Luckily though there are some players kind enough to swap and I actually got mid 4 times, but most of the time this is not the case. So even after asking for my primary, I can only manage 4/11?

I prefer longer Ques over basically everything Riot has done for Rank.

Riot needs to allow longer Ques for Better MMing and to remove Autofill.

10-15m Que times are fine.

Oh and I Que Mid/Top and get Mid all times but when Im autofilled where I get Jungle/Support

This is you right now. The vast majority of people do not want longer queue times. Specially if they ever reach second digits. You can prefer whatever you want, this isn't about what YOU want but what MOST want. Most people just want to hop into a game without much delay and if that doesn't happen they'll leave to another game that fits their needs and you want to know what happens then? Queue times get even longer since there are less people playing, then more and more people will slowly stop playing which leads to even longer queue times which then forms this vicious cycle that continues until nobody or an incredibly small group of people are left. This is literally what happened to teambuilder

Most people have jobs and families and other responsibilities and the last thing they want is wait 10+ mins just to play a game. People's time is limited.

I queue jg mid, Ive yet to play mid this season. Been autofilled support maybe 3 times this year.

yeah I believe that jungle is the 4th most played role so I guess you won't have this problem, especially with mid secondary

I'm not sure you really understand how statistics work if you think you should have a 50% chance to get mid just because you selected it as your primary.

If there are at any given time 10 people queued mid, and 2 people queued top, you are going to have a much higher chance of getting stuck top than mid simply because more people are in the line before you. What roles you get placed in is based on the statistics of supply and demand, not the statistics of the number of roles you selected.

i agree with you but what im saying is I would rather queue for an extra 3 minutes to get my main role at least 50% of the time, than stuck on my secondary almost every game

Except you'd probably not be in the que for an extra 3 minutes, you'd probably be much longer, especially if other people have the same capability to opt out of autofill. You KNOW everyone who'd opt out would be midlaners, which means your chance of getting mid would plummet or your queue timers would skyrocket since everyone is waiting.

I queue AD/Support and only got support once, so idk what your issue is.

I read recently from a Rioter, I forget whom, that there is a known issue of people gaming teambuilder by selecting mid as secondary to all but guarantee their primary. They said they've fixed it some, but I don't think it can be completely fixed. I main top and pick mid second since most of my mains are also flexes, and almost never get autofilled mid.

If they did as you suggested, almost everyone who didn't select the longer wait would be thrown onto support, yet again... and this is what they were trying to avoid.
