About that Shen Rework...

Hi, random Shen main here, and to anyone bored enough to find this discussion, I was wondering about the thoughts of others regarding Shen's (eventual) update. Now, I'm usually a strong supporter of updates, seeing all the new sexy graphics and sounds, animations and skins, but for Shen, it's different. Really different. I main Shen. Like. Main. I play him almost every game, and have about 160k champion points or whatever on him. Petty bragging aside, I'm worried how this update will change him. I'm used to playing him as the "surprise tank" who doles out tons of damage and slinking away at the last minute. I'm just asking, will Shen's rework be largely the same? Or will he become something entirely different?

TLDR: Shen update: the good ol' same or drastically different? If so, good or nah?

I believe Meddler said they wanted to keep his ultimate and taunt but maybe change his q and w to more interactive abilities. He mentioned wanting to try and make Shen into an evasion tank.

That's actually what I'm most worried about. Changing his Q is pretty significant in laning phase, as his sustain allows him to tank out a lot of champs up top, even hard counters if played correctly. I'm hesistant to see the changes for his Q. But I'm glad to see he's still has a tank-ish role.

Much the same i think they are keeping taunt and ult the same or atleast very similar.

Honestly though only his w really needs any drastic change.

I agree, his other moves are really useful, his W is something i almost nvr use as it seems like a waste of energy. I'm really glad he's getting an update tho, almost nvr see shens out there. Tho i do feel kinda special when im do great with him :D

I don't know exactly what RIOT means when they say stuff, but here is what I have read:

Passive, Q and W will be new. They will probably retain a similar function to the old ability. I guess that means Shen will still have some kind of bonus damage, some kind of sustain, and some kind of mitigation in his kit. Can't really say for sure. They said they wanted his laning to be more interactive.

Im sensing that they will move him more towards AD as far as build and ratios go, I remember a RIOTer responding somewhere that they were going to keep the magic part, but think a ninja swinging two swords sounds pretty AD.

I think it will overall be a good change for Shen. I will miss point and click sword throwing, but probably not for too long.
