How accurate is Op.gg?

I am currently 1-5 in placement games. Op.gg says my mmr is silver 3 level and I will most likely be placed there. But I get wrecked in every game and really should be bronze. So not sure how accurate this is or if Riot's placement system just messed up.

Its pretty accurate, just note the MMR of your enemies/teammates varies meaning there is no consistency with how your MMR number looks. One game you could be above your rating and potentially skip, then next game you're MMR is lower than average just because the people you beat weren't the same level as you.

OP.GG tells you current MMR but when it comes to predicting what rank you'll be after or before promos can be very biased.

Well, since MMR works like this.

If your opponents have higher MMR you lose less. So by the chance that in those 5 games you got people that were headed Silver1 you might stay there. Back in the day, if you went 5/5 you would end up Silver5. 6-4 would be Silver4

But since then I have had friends go like, 6-4 and end up silver 2. If it's your first time ranked ever, I would say, break even, hope you are Silver, but the system will eventually work itself out.

Your placement starts in highish silver so you should probably go to bronze if u lose one or two more.

It's closeish, but not very accurate.

Yeah it's never perfectly accurate. I mean, mine says I'm a bit her and in Gold 5 MMR yet I'm at Silver 2.

its decent, a better measurement to go by is look at the people you play with/against to get a feel of what level you are currently playing at.

if i see plat 5, plat 5, gold 1, gold 2, gold 3, gold 2, gold 2, gold 1, gold 1, players in the room. im probably playing at a lowish gold 1 level.

Doesn't say where you'll end up after promos, but it does tell you the MMR you're being matched against, which can give you a pretty good clue.

That said, every time OP.GG has said I'll skip 2 divisions, I have.

op.gg is INCREDIBLY accurate.

The website provides an approximate MMR rating from its own formula, not riot's actual calculation. I would not read too much into that aspect. However, it is highly accurate in assessing whether you will be demoted. When it reads that "your MMR is higher than the average player in this league" it means that if you are sitting at 0 LP you are unlikely to be demoted even after several losses at 0 LP. However, this also means that if your MMR is lower than the league average than you are likely to be demoted if you have 0 LP.

Edit: In predicting placement it is not at all accurate. On other smurfs that I did my placements on it predicted I would be in low Gold after my placement games and each time I placed in low silver.

Op.gg doesn't measure how well u do in a game but the amount u win and the rank u were last season(s)Yorick and this season it will tend to place newer plaers more in the silver area.

I think op.gg is accurate because it said I'll be placed in s2 and indeed I was placed in s2
