Garen's silence and Renekton's stun[SOLVED]

Okay, so here is my questions/problem: Why cant i stun Garen BEFORE his q actually hits me? What i mean is, Garen is in the air, I have not taken damage and i as Renekton am not stunned yet. My w is already up and i hit him first so he should be stunned hence no silence or him coming down doing damage correct? If not please explain. Because what happens every time now is I AA first with my W up and yet he still comes down and silences me. Shouldn't he be stunned and the silence not happening unless the stun wheres off before his q does?

The problem you're running into is that stuns do not stop auto attacks that have already started. It's not specific to Garen, it works like that for every champion.

Ahh i see, makes sense at times, just not with Garens q, i mean he leaps into the freaking air and slams his sword on you, the animation is horridly long for an AA and it makes sense I thought a stun could stop it. But alright back to e'ing away.

It does have a different animation than his normal autos, but the Q is an auto attack modifier. You'll notice the same thing with Nasus Q and Jax E, though their modifier skills share their auto attack animations.

Yeah i see haha again its just longer than say nasus's animation.

Garen's Q is a spell. Think of it as a projectile, if he's already pressed Q and you are in range, the action is already taken.

Meaning his Q is already on the way. A stun might stop him from further attacking you, but once it's mid swing, you can't stop it from damaging you, as it is not really an attack.

That would be like stunning Annie while her Q is already coming at you, and wondering why the projectile didn't just disappear.

True, it was just his animations throwing me off it takes so long, he like levitates for a millisecond then comes down, Ren's stun animation is already threw by the time Garen is on the ground again
