Ok Riot, it's time to discuss Leavers and the Teams they leave behind

Ok Riot...

After all these years it's time to fix the problem of people leaving games. You've fixed so many other issues including (for the most part) the toxic environment that is League of Legends. You've offered penalties for the person leaving (which are subpar in my opinion) but what about the teams they're leaving? Someone leaves or gets disconnected and now it's 4v5 and the team has almost no chance at winning. It's an almost certain loss, even if they left temporarily.

What about giving the team even a 5-10% bonus in Adaptive or something?

How about a reduced LP loss when they experience their almost-certain loss?

How about more harsh penalties for those leaving consistently and repetitively?

You can even do these things if they leave, for instance, for longer than 5, 10, 15 minutes. Whatever the case.

Please put some effort into it for those of us who've stuck with you for so long!

Thanks TMax

They'll never give you free stats or reduced LP just because someone left. This can be easily abused by ganging up on whoever is doing poorly and making their game hell in the attempt to get them to leave.

Penalties are already harsh enough, leaverbuster does a decent enough job in dealing with them and you can still report them (whether this speeds up the process of them getting some form of punishment from leaverbuster specifically I'm not sure though).

When making systems like this you have to make sure that you don't end up punishing people who don't do this type of thing on purpose. I had a time where every single time I tried playing was when my isp decided that it was a good idea to do maintenance and for whatever reason it was every day they were doing it. Something you don't expect at all. Then you have people who have internet outages for whatever reason, power issues, personal actual real emergencies, etc etc. That's why the system doesn't just give you a penalty for a one time or once in a while thing. It instead looks for a pattern and then punishes you.

This will increase toxicity. Imagine: your team is doing ok, but one person is struggling. Some people might start telling that person to just leave so that the rest of the team can get the bonus and win.
