Since i live under a proverbial rock i had no idea that this item was actually incorporated into the game. So it begs the question, who am i gonna use it with and should i rush it or not?

Dead Man's Plate is to Hecarim what Titanic Hydra will be to Sion.

for tanky junglers it´s a great 2nd buy...for everyone else it really depends on how much they plan to roam around. It´s not the most slot efficient item ever if you plan to 5v5 or just splitpush. Though with the nerfs to everything else next patch you might aswell get dead man´s anyway...

Basically any champ that has to run at your ass to catch you. There are great synergies with Hecarim, Olaf, Garen, Shyvanna, Sion, Volibear, Udyr, Nasus, Trundle, and I just tried it on Fiora and it really helps her take out Vitals when chasing down a target. I went for an off tank Fiora build with Titanic Hydra, Black Cleaver, Deadman's plate, and Spirit Visage. It does a lot of damage with a lot of tankiness and mobility in conjunction. I think it's a pretty good build on her, but it's hard to say if it's any better than her Melee carry build as that will do a lot more damage, but she will be very squishy by comparison. Btw, Titanic Hydra is straight up OP. With 4K health the active deals an additional 400+ damage on an Auto. This can make for an incredible amount of burst damage for a champion that is building mostly health and resistances.

I would say that DMP is really good for map movement too, but I feel like Randuin's is still going to be better on a lot of champions as their core HP/Armor item because the 4 second AOE slow is going to be too good to pass up. And Frozen Heart is still a good item even after the nerfs (it was probably OP in its current state). DMP is pretty good just for stats as well though, and the ramp up time for the max stacks is pretty quick so I can see a lot of champions picking it up. Keep in mind that you will discharge your stacks if you attack a minion, but you can use abilities to clear waves if you want to keep your stacks up but wave clear as well.

Holy crap I just thought of something: Singed.

You could just never AA and never discharge the stacks to keep your MS up all the time. Unless you were about to toss someone as the bonus damage will help.

I would say building Deadman's Plate and Randuin's together might be a good idea on someone who is not worried about CDR and has more mixed damage threats than worrying primarily about the ADC; in which case, Thornmail and Frozen Heart are going to be more important. It will basically give you the same stats as you would if you used to buy Sunfire and Randuin's in conjunction in previous patches but it will have more utility in the MS and potential slow while sacrificing damage from Immolate.

Oh thought of another champion who will like this item: Evelynn.

As far as rushing it... I think it would be a good item on a few champions as a rushed item, but I don't think it is really necessary. The damage on the item will fall off over time, but MS is incredibly strong at all points in the game for multiple reasons. So don't feel bad about getting this item later in your build. I didn't build it on my Fiora game until after BC and Hydra and it was still very strong for map movement, chasing enemies, and getting a strong slow off to try and get multiple Vitals quickly. I barely noticed the damage at that point, but I would say that Gnar can probably wreck his lane with this item (I honestly think he should be nerfed before 5.18) if he simply rushes it as a first item (against an AD opponent of course). The 100 bonus damage early is huge and he could bully his lane opponent away from a lot of farm just from the fear of getting hit with the proc and getting chunked. He is also going to be getting a buff with Sterak's Gage in 5.16 as it synergizes with his kit incredibly well (total AD scaling, Rage mechanic, offtank build, lot's of bonus stats when going mega, etc.). I think he is going to be a monster after 5.16.

I think 5.16 Gnar's full build is going to be DMP, BC, Sterak's, Thornmail, Spirit Visage and Tabi. This will give 1900HP, 180 Armor, 60MR, 40 Bonus AD, and 25/35 Base AD (x2 with Sterak's passive) with items, which is an incredible mix of offensive and defensive stats on a champion that will synergize with these items so well.

Anyway. Long story short. I don't think it is necessarily a rush item even though the damage is flat. Usually champions have to build one major item before something like DMP anyway, so the damage is going to be an afterthought of the item. This is going to be used primarily for map movement, single target chasing, and the stats it provides. It is going to be useful on many champions for different reasons and I expect it to be picked up regularly, though I think Randuin's is still a better item in terms of helping your team and mitigating damage from AD threats.

Well if we take into consideration next patch where certain armour gets nerfed I would say that it is probably the second best armor item to rush next to sunfire cape early game.

This is because randuins mainly deal with crit, which you probably wont experience much until later into the game.

Deadmansplate helps you get to lane faster, roam better and gank better, but wont help you much in lane compared to sunfire which has a more offensive build path(cinder) and a reliable damage component.

So I guess on any tanky jungler this is a good buy because it has alot of health and armour and gives you a little boost to clearing between camps.

However I find these champs good with it

Hecarim rush after item 3078

Basically? Dead Man's Plate gives you Mobility Boots without buying Mobility Boots. There's stats and minor side effects, but that is the primary benefit. If you were going to get Mobility Boots before, you can get the relatively overpowered other boot upgrades for the low cost efficiency, and still have a mobi boots passive.

(Getting both is an option and they do stack, however)

item 3742 is good on Hecarim the same way item 1329 was (technically is but has been nerfed): A single giant burst auto-attack and that's about it. The Movement Bonus from Juggernaut may work well with his Devastating Charge but it's very... Meh for sustained damage.

I'd argue item 3742 is a very strong Roamer item. The more you run around before hitting something, the better the item is. For this reason I'd recommend it on Roaming Top Laners or Bruiser/Tank Junglers planning on ganking a lot and needing just a tiny bit more burst or at least movement speed to catch up to a single, frisky target.
