My thoughts on supports

Ok so my thought on the identity of supports and just all around how the role is played , it feels like there isnt any identity to the role itself like adc or jungle but the issue is how is it any different than playing someone like brand as support, someone whos suppost to be mid, it doesnt feel any different than playing in another lane accept i have less xp and less gold, i think that there needs to be more of an identity to support champions and not just picking who ever you feel like picking as support, like say teemo, brand, mundo. It feels like you dont see true supports anymore and it feels like they have a lack of identity within the community, like most every other lane has an identity, top is mostly tanky damage, mid is mostly sraight magic damage adc/bot is straight attack damage, and support is... what? Healing, cc, damage, what exactly is it, i understand that you could say "well anyone could be a support, it doesnt really matter as long as you have the adc fed to carry or whatever" but i feel like support should have its own identity like sona soraka nami, people you cant really play in other lanes, that are made just for that lane, like jungle or mid top adc they all have certain champions that are extremely good at that rolse and probrably not anywhere in some other lane. But thats just my thought on it idk about anyone else.
