ARAM doesn't feel fun for me anymore

I just came out of a game where the enemy team consisted of Yi, Ezreal, Xerath, Lux, and Bard. It's the sort of team that makes you want to alt+f4 the second you hit loading screen. The game went as expected, with the damage charts looking pitiful, at least for my team. I didn't do well, no one on my team did well, and I don't think anyone on my team left the game feeling any sort of positive emotion.

To me, I see ARAM as a 4fun oriented gamemode that can be played when you're a little short on time. An ARAM game isn't supposed to be nearly as strategic as summoners rift, but rather focuses on constant teamfights and micro play. But when you get thrown into a game like the one described above, it's hard to enjoy yourself at all.

As I described above however, ARAM is generally supposed to be a gamemode focused on fun, not strategy. Yet, if you're put up against a team that eliminates any chance of winning, that eliminates any kind of fun as well. I've met plenty of people that will just go with the flow in that scenario and laugh with the enemy team as they watch their side of the map crumble. That isn't me though, and I feel like in order to have fun there needs to be some sort of chance for each side to win, to motivate competition. Otherwise, why should I keep trying to run up to a team filled with long range damage coupled with enough CC to keep the damage long range.

This is why I also enjoyed Nexus Blitz so much. I know NB has been all over Reddit/boards recently, but it honestly did fill the hole that ARAM left in my heart. While Nexus Blitz had plenty of randomness, it was implemented into summoners rift instead of having a completely new map with no control over your champion picks. The open map with a jungle and two lanes encouraged the skill expression that can seen in (the majority of) summoners rift games. And even if you were getting absolutely stomped, it was still possible to win in the final fight where the nexus' brawl in the middle of the map as long as you stalled enough for that event. Playing that last fight strategically or capitalizing on an enemy mistake made me want to keep trying.

I'm not trying to push for the return of NB (although I would love to see it come back), but rather highlight why ARAM feels like such a lacking gamemode to me. Maybe a newer player can enjoy seeing tons of new champions they've never encountered or played much against, but I've seen too much of League at this point. Every time I queue up for an ARAM game now, I've truly begun to think of it as flipping a coin as to whether I'll have fun or not. And at the end of the day, I'd argue that sometimes even won games aren't fun games :(.
