Quitting League

I have decided to quit League of Legends after a defeat streak and realising how much time I wasted on the game. I did some research and many people playing League said that league is not a waste of time because "Time spent enjoying is not time wasted" This is not true. You only enjoy lol 50-56% of the time. Very few people enjoy losing a game. Many people also said that playing league is wasting as much time as taking a nap, watching tv etc. Again this is not true because with those things you enjoy it ~100% of the time and you don't feel the need to do it more even when you DON'T enjoy it. League of Legends is very addicting and tearing yourself away is a challenge you will never forget.

The reason i decided to quit league is because I told my dad I was going to come home early to revise for my physics test, instead I spent 10hours playing League of Legends. I wanted to only play a few games a week but the addiction is too strong there for I decided to quit forever.

Websites states that you spent x amount of time playing league. Even though it is true it isn't the amount of time you have WASTED on league. You most likely spend 50% of the time you played waiting and even more so from twitch, youtube, and world championships.

League is definitely a waste of life, if you do not plan to become a professional. You must stop NOW. Feel free to flame all you want but the fact will not change: The clock is ticking and even the time I spend writing this post is being wasted on League. League of Legends is not intended to bring happiness to its players, but instead money to the shareholders.

p.s I know this post is incoherent and not sequenced properly but it is my stream of consciousness. Take it for what you will.

I can agree that LoL is addictive, my grades are falling down faster than the Hiroshima bomb.

Addictive personalities are genetic.

Just take a break from the game, everything is good in moderation. I'm tired of having to deal with raging teammates so I decided to relax and work on my fighting game skills and unlock some nice art.

Personally, I wouldn't quit because I have such a monetary sink in the game.

Winning is definitely a good feeling but if you learn something from a loss, that isnt particularly bad either, and speaking on time wasted, that is not general, some of us are billionaire heirs and don't have to work, 'wasting time' is opinionated.

Some of us just have time and money to burn, for a 'normal person', an example would be a streamer, are you going to say streamers are wasting time as well, by making a living while entertaining by playing video games, perhaps this is a subjective epiphany of your life, however it does not affect everyone as it does you.

I would love to not quit league and maybe play 3-4 games a week. Alas, this is not possible because I am so addicted. I feel like the only way I won't go on a 10game spree in 1 day is to quit. :(

Late comment, but i do empathize with what you are saying. I recently awoke from the same slump where i would torture myself playing league and other games which try to syphon money from your wallet. I spent days playing these games neglecting studies and social life thinking i would be happy if i achieved a high level of play; however, deep inside my mind i knew this was an utter lie and i was so unhappy and depressed. The people you are forced to play with are emotionally disturbing and quite frankly a disgusting bunch. I quit a while back and my life has taken a total 360. My ass doesn't hurt because i am much more active, memory and cognition are up because I am trying new things in life and now i spend time learning about topics that actually matter in this world we live in. Do not get me wrong, the world of gaming is fantastic, giving us players a means to relax and relieve ourselves. However, the games being created now are meant to stress players, if i do play a game now it is single player or a simple fighting game with friends and family where we can slap each other across the back after winning or losing, have a drink and laugh, not tell each other about our mothers and call one another racially charged slangs. Congratulations to you and i wish you success in your studies and future life.

Invest into a Switch and play Nintendo games, you won't regret it! The Nintendo 2DS slab console is super cheap to buy and the 3DS family has a massive and amazing game library!

I quit today too, i feel bad tho cuz i have wasted near 200€ on this game, but i refuse to play a game where fizz midlane cannot kill ezreal with full combo, i just refuse. This game is like a beat-down car, you feel annoyed to drive it cuz it keeps breaking down so you soon prefer to walk on foot, same is this game, i'd rather just quit to poke a smelly piece of sh1t that this game is. This game is just broken and never will be fixed as long as RIOT's pockets get filled with money.

This is the problem when people try to play to win rather than play to have fun. When you are losing a game, surrender the game, value time and not winning and meaningless game - you are also valuing the time of 9 other people when you end the game earlier instead of stalling it out for no reason and make everyone not have a fun time.

Play to have fun, not to win! Make sure how YOU play ensures enjoyment for everyone around you, do not just think about yourself!

If you want to have fun I highly recommend investing into a Nintendo 3DS or Switch and buy Nintendo games where their focus is entirely on super fun gameplay with very eye appealing visuals with the colours and art style! ARMS is a brand new Nintendo IP and is a ton of fun with very lovable characters (I love Lola Pop she is just so bouncy, adorable, playful, and fun to play for me) and includes bonus free DLC.

I quit league, join me on Maple Story. Right now there is no enjoying league in this state anyways, it is way too snowbally, games are no longer close, do any of you remember when games where they where decided in 30-45 min and not the first 5,10, or 15 min? I sure remember, that is what LEAGUE was this isn't league anymore.

Guys I am guy who played league in every season but in 2015 my addiction started and in 3 years I spend 3000€ only on league. I decided to quit league when my account got locked because of a joke. Now when i am bored my hand move and try to open league and in 3 seconds I close it. Now i don't know what to do with my life because I just got my social life back and my grades are growing.

P.S all my gamer friends are playing league.
