It’s impossible to get out of Iron

I’m a support main, I usually play support, last season, I climbed through Bronze and got to Silver in my first season, towards the end of the season, I played a lot of ranked to expand my champion pool, beca The competition was better, and I fell in the elos. I wasn’t concerned, because I knew the new season was starting.

Fast forward to yesterday, the start of the season. I jump in, ready to play, only to get all my games filled with Iron players. I realize I can’t play support in this elo, because people don’t even know how to CS properly. I go to ADC/Mid and get filled in each.

Every single game someone on my team is at least 0/4/0 by 15 minutes.

Riot, I ask, what do you expect me to do when everyone feeds?!? Feel free to look at my history. Kaztorium is my summoner. I’m not the best player, but I consistently get A’s and B’s on your scale, I have a decent KDA, and I don’t int almost ever, and I’m rewarded by you giving me the worst players in league on my team and basically telling me to 1v9 if I want to win a single game.

I’m not asking for stomps or for smurfs on my team, I’m just asking for the game to not be over before I get a chance to do anything. What’s the point if I’m 2/0/1 and up 15 CS if my bot lane has given up 13 kills to the enemy team? Like seriously, there’s no way to rise out of Iron, and I know and have asked people who are in diamond and platinum to look at my games and see, and they all say “that’s unlucky, just keep playing”

I’m 4-10 on the new season, and after counting, I’m 4-1 in games where my team didn’t die more than 5 times.

There’s a difference between making a mistake and legitimately just ruining the game for everyone. I’m at the point where I’m asking what’s the point in even playing if I have to be with such bad players. Like going 0/2/0 in laning phase isn’t bad, that’s workable, but going 0/6/0 by 10 minutes and giving Caitlyn and Pyke fed is ridiculous.

I’m only making this post because I have an idea that I think would balance people out of Iron because there’s no way anyone rises out of Iron without this change:

For Iron-Bronze only, gain LP for your performance, but only slight amounts(2-8 max) which would make people go forward in LP even if they lost, but obviously if they win it’s way more. Which means players that are good aren’t penalized because every member of their team ends the game with 9+ deaths and feeds every lane.

It’s the only change I can think of that would even make it worth playing anymore, and if you think I’m trolling, just look at my history and realize what I have to continually play with in Iron.

If you're a support, watch that.

Other 2 channels along Skill Capped that you should watch are Game Leap and Pro Guides.

Pick Janna and go roaming, aggressive support. Use the wards for yourself. Due to your movement speed and shield, you can't really die but you can apply pressure on the entire map. Just punish the enemies when possible. Rotate out of bot lane whenever your ADC isn't in lane and go back bot when your ADC and bot enemies are in lane. Use shield when your teammate or you are attacking (it gives quite a bit of AD) and use Q/W for either disengage or engage. If ADC complains, mute them.

Since you're support, your job in lane is to make sure your ADC can farm and apply pressure on the bot lane enemies. Make sure the enemy ADC thinks twice about getting cs. Just stand in the front (never behind the ADC), make sure you're in a safe position, and punish the enemies when possible. Support is the one that controls a lot of bot lane. Just don't get too out of position as your ADC might not react or they might get a little too greedy and they end up dying. I really hate ADCs that get greedy instead of just farm...Please understand that we don't have to all-in all the time and just trading is fine.

Some matches can't be helped. You can't support the entire team the entirety of the match and 1v9 is just not possible in a team game. Only thing you can do is try to extend the amount of control you have over the match.

Those first two placement games that you are likely complaining about, those players were bronze players (you had bronze MMR at end of preseason) and silver 4 players who had bronze MMR. And you were pretty bad in those games despite your adc being one of the better performing players on your team in both those games.

And then you went off the play mid and adc for most of the rest, and tanked your way down losing most of those games.

Anyways, support at any ELO is largely about coordinating with other players, which makes playing with people that play in a way you are unfamiliar with somewhat difficult.

Bro, stop focusing on rank and keep that learning mentality. You can carry iron with almost 0 effort from any position if you're even half decent. So focus on the learning aspect. The number of mistakes you can capitalize on in iron games is staggaring to the point I could drop into a 0-20 game, focus on targeting mistakes and win.

As support you should be able to pretty much permanently bully your opponent out of lane and delvl them both of your significantly better than them.

Beyond that again in iron you shouldn't look to make plays you should wait on a safe manner till the enemy makes mistakes and capitalize on them. Especially if you okay safe at that level people will try to force things and make even more mistakes.

Worry about generating plays when you're gold, honestly, even we have a ton of mistakes and hold games are often still decided more by mistakes than by plays.

I just started my season today i'm a support as well and i ended up Iron 3 and out of atleast 20 games including placements i've legit won 3 of em. My champion Pool is Rakan Rakan (best champ but havent touched because requires competent team/duo) Shen Shen Pyke Pyke Swain Swain

Despite not having won a single game though something occured to me, someone once told me "If one person doesn't like you they are doing something wrong if more than 1 person doesn't like you chances are you are doing something wrong". I took that and i kinda applied it to League, i figure if i was losing a couple of games then fine maybe it ain't me, but to have lost every single game thus far... It HAS to be me at this point no matter how many times i got an S or an A or B, no matter how much better i feel i did than anyone or even if i felt others were doing something wrong. It HAS to be my fault, and theres something I am doing wrong, f*** what everybody else is doing, what is it that im doing. So now even if i rage in game and no matter how i try to justify it i always face 1 fact at the end of every game I!! messed up, yes it was me "6 f***ed it" as they say. Then i try to analyze what i did wrong from item 2055 down to should i have used a item 2033 could it have made a difference.. A wise man, who i look up to and is very good at this game once told me "It doesn't matter what you do, there is no real big secret to getting good at league just play the game and if you're paying attention it will come to you"

So i hope that advice goes far, for not only you but anyone else who might read this and feels stuck and defeated. Just keep on playing, and focus on having fun instead of trying to find some big secret or easy way out... Keep up the good fight my fellow summoners!! -- Your New friend 6 [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
