Am I correct in my analysis of solo ranked play?

I'm not a super noob but i don't pay attention to a lot of the higher lvl strategies and play. I recently started focusing more on ranked play and trying to advance. As I play I've made these observations and was just wondering if they were correct.

-You're going to lose alot and you can't really change it. You are 1 out of 5 randoms so all things even, you only have 20% effect on the outcome (I know that can change). So, if you want to advance, you literally have to put up with a ton of games you can't do anything about? -Because theres so many people you can't control, the best way to advance is to play the champ that can carry the hardest. So this means playing assasin-type characters or ADC. Do these give you the highest probability of advancement?

Sometimes I play kind of a safe, slow and steady type character but that doesn't seem to work lol. I was just wondering if my observations were correct.

Personally I found that carefully herding your team of cats into pushing out the other lanes while you bring the enemy team (as many as possible) to you without getting caught is the most reliable way to win. I wouldn't suggest ADC to carry unless you have the mechanics. (I know I don't have them; I don't play ADC :P)

Yes. You're going to lose a lot and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. You will be slaughtered by smurfs, you will be silver and queued against diamonds, and you will do well and get obliterated. The best way is to play what is overpowered at the time and snowball. Fiora top, Lux mid, Udyr/Volibear/Xin jungle. I would suggest staying away from the bot lane as much as possible.

Correct about the number of games you have to play to find your average elo. Some guy on reddit did the math and it's somewhere around 500 games. However you can play anything and climb with anything; many people do velkoz or teemo only to diamond.
