Why dont no one ever take that role?

Honestly, it's a role that you can't just fill, and if someone in solo queue said "better listen to me, because I call the shots", you're going to write them off as a pretentious asshole. Which they usually are.

The problem with trying to find a leader (or even BE a leader) is you have to have the right kind of natural talent or experience for it, and it involves a whole mess of other skills that most people just aren't going to have. What's more, it isn't dependent on a player's personal ability or rank. A Diamond 1 player can simply lack team coordination (and I've known a few that are like that).

Being a leader means you have to understand all the details, the why of what is, your strengths on both a personal and team level and more importantly your weaknesses, along with the enemy's strengths and weaknesses. Leaders don't go by what the meta says, nor are they there to reinforce it; that is what a follower does, not a leader. A leader will be the last person to surrender, not the first, in the same way the Captain goes down with the ship (the captain is the last to leave a sinking ship because it's his responsibility to see to the well being of everyone else on board, with his own being the last). A leader will push their team to do what they think can't be done, to see them through the most turbulent moments. Someone who can only lead when circumstances are in their favor is not a real leader.

How many people can you list off the top of your head that will fulfill all these criteria? It's a rarity, to be sure, and the people who can do this in solo queue will make themselves known without having to announce that they will lead the team.

i disagree.. just call baron and state why.. then u have tried..

It doesn't work.

Shotcalling required you to know the complete level of skill your teammates are. Maybe in a duo?

But ok.. yeah.. no one ever like even pings baron.. things like that.. they just mindlessly play to get kill often imo.. im in plat now so the tower destruction is Muuuuch better but thats it imo

i like the strategic part of lol.. i like to rush baron when they are backing or when they are doing drake because they are stronger 5v5.. things like that.. I have never sseen anybody else do things like that.. And people often dont care about that.. they just want to contest sh it and fight all day long :P

The jungler is your shotcaller.

Because even if you try to call out objectives, and when people should do something, you only have a 50-50 shot of them actually listening. I can't tell you how many times I've been jungling, call for dragon, and bot lane simply recalls after we murdered their bot lane and jungler.

Basically everyone in solo queue thinks they know better than everyone else for whatever reason. At least this is the case down in the depths that I'm stuck in.

I find that when I actually have a team that listens to calls, it's a complete shutout. Like minimum double their kills, complete dragon control, and we lose 3 towers max.

i have the same experience.. often i ping baron like crazy and the people dont care.. suddenly the enemy team comes with purple minions.. then i /ff lol

My favorite is pinging for a gank, only to have your lane turn around and recall at full mana and most of their hp.

I find that when a team listens to calls, it typically turns out we rarely need them as everyone seems to happen to have similar goal priorities and whenever there's a disconnect, the one guy with a different idea falls in line with no chat to keep the team together.

Splitpushers aside of course, they need a bit of typing even on a perfect team for timing.
