Season 7 is a joke. Thoughts?

If you're just here to shitpost, LARP or troll, fuck right off. This is a legit post where I want to hear feedback about what OG players think about this season. This season has been incredibly difficult for me; for the first time, the meta has changed so drastically that I cannot find my place. I played League of Legends in season 4 & 5 and climbed easily to Plat 4 in the jungle over the 2 seasons. I skipped out on Season 6 due to school and came back Season 7 and have never been so frustrated with this game. While I'm proficient in all lanes, Jungle used to be my main. I find it nearly impossible to adapt to the new jng meta as it isn't my playstyle, so I switched to AD. I love AD, but I am not proficient enough to consistently carry the majority of my games at my current elo. Top has been my primary role coming back this season as the gameplay and playstyle is more similar to what I'm used to, but even then it still feels so very unpleasant and wrong. I'm thinking about uninstalling and coming back Season 8 to see if the meta has changed to something more enjoyable. Anyone feel like they're in the same boat?

Season 7 isn't a joke at all. Jokes are supposed to be funny.

Comparing to Seasons 3,4 and 5, the last two can be described as "FORCED META" seasons. It's simple, Riot forces you to pick meta champs and items if you want to win your games. As if that wasn't enough, they also have enforced meta playstyle as well. If you don't play your lane or your jungle the meta demands, then you will again lose.

All in all, they removed THE FUN out of the game. This has become extremely obvious in all the games one plays. People CAN'T have fun any more, if giving one kill away means losing towers, lane, pressure and eventually the game. So, everyone just wants to win win win win these days. Welcome to Season 7, or as i like to call it, an even worse Season 6. I doubt S8 will be better.

I started season 5 so I'm not an OG but I agree. This season is horrible. For me, it's the snowball mechanics. Even games are so scarce this season. 90% of games, it's one side snowballing hard and it can be caused by a single feeder. All it takes is one mistake for a lane to start feeding, then all lanes end up feeding hard as well. Definitely not the game I remember in season 5.

it's funny because I heard this a lot last season.

I've been playing since season 2 and honestly i don't feel like the game has really changed that much, other than the community. It went from being a game to being an E-sport so everyone takes it wayyy to seriously. I should not get attacked by my team because i want to play a "non-meta" champ, or try a new build.

It's a video game.

You're Bronze 4. I'm not saying that to offend, but most people that find their way into Bronze are younger kids that fail to understand basic game mechanics and people that don't care much about the game/don't have much time to play it. This thread is geared more towards veterans that have experience the game over a multitude of seasons at a more competitive level, I.E serious players.

Seth the Green2 votes

The only reason i am bronze is because i do not play ranked, because i have never had good enough internet connection, i live in the mountains. But that does not mean that i am not skilled or have no exp in the game. i have 5 years of playing this game and know what i am talking about. i watched competitive play and keep up with everything. I do not have to be ranked to have a god damn opinion. That's the worst thing in this game "oh you're not ranked, so you don't matter." Like seriously. And so you know all i want is to be able to play ranked, but cant do to where i live.

Care to elaborate on the rationality for this build on Gnar? Mildly curious. (http://prntscr.com/fc4rsf)

I don't doubt your internet connection is bad, but 61 games @ 50% WR in low bronze with "bad" internet just full on shows you have no clue what you're even doing. When I first started League, I had a 185 ping and still did not have an issue climbing to Gold 4 for Season 4. I'm not here to give you grief about your opinion, but rather introduce the possibility that you don't have a true, validated opinion pertaining to this thread simply because you have not truly experience sound gameplay over the years.

You sir are just being an ass, wtf does how i play my champs have to do with anything? I like to play "off-meta" champs and builds, so what, that gnar build was for mid not top and i did most damage on my team. My internet is to bad to play norms noramaly i have to wait till 1-2 in the morning to get a game in

And you are giving me grief, saying i don't have real game experience.

Seth the Green1 votes

And whats wrong with that build anyways? It makes you faster and slows your enemies, plus some lethality and armor shred, with on-hit damage buffs and attack speed.

Bastud1 votes

Point set and proven.

Seth the Green1 votes

Whats your point, please tell me, what is wrong with the build? i just started gnar recently, and would like a second opinions anyways.

Instead of being rude for no reason, how about some constructive criticism?

Well Season 7 is much better than season 6 in my opinion.

The annoying thing is that the better jungler almost always wins and well.. Autofill hits hard too. If you get an autofilled anything against an OTP or just a main of that position, you have a much higher chance of losing the game.

unlike season 3 when I started, season 7 promotes teamplay. You can't win that easily just by playing good anymore. You have to snowball your team and work as a team. For some people that's hard to adapt to, for some people it is easier. Players that are not so strong automatically get carried by stronger people they randomly get matched with, because snowballing is really strong this season.

Overall i think this season is borderline ok-ish. There are many ways to improve and in my opinion there has never been a better season than season 3.

Season 6 however, was the biggest mess so far imo. Except for Taliyah release.

I stopped playing a few months ago (back during the lethality meta) and few of the recent changes make me want to come back.

I've been working through my backlog of Steam games and light novels.

Sounds like you're just tilted because you're out of practice

Bastud1 votes

Yes, I am definitely tilted, but more so because it's not the same enjoyable game I've played for many seasons. This current meta has sucked the fun out of the game imo

Eedat1 votes

I started in season 3 so I don't know if I'm a "veteran" yet, but I really dont find this season much different. There was 2 patches of "oopsies! lethality meta" but lets be honest. Something similar happens at the beginning of every season.

Can't really go into detail of your other points because they're extremely vague and nondescript

Bastud1 votes

It's not much different for you because you're already accustomed to the current meta. I see you run a lot of jungle; MonkeyKing, Hecarim, Volibear and .Amumu When you ask someone like me what they think about the lethality meta, someone that classically jungled Nidalee, Evelynn, RekSai Kindred, Diana for many seasons, the game starts to feel extremely foreign. This season's jungle esp. as well had a massive overhaul; it makes it extremely hard to adapt already out of meta champs with the new.

every single season is a joke, every single season is the worst season yet, every single season is the end of LoL. It's like League's seasons are like Zelda games in which (excluding breath of the wild) the newest Zelda game was just absolute trash, then when a new zelda game came the previous zelda game was considered pretty darn good by the same people who said that the game was trash. I literally stopped taking seriously these types of threads because it's the exact same thing every single season

I think your filling in information based on out of context material bud. All seasons of League I've played have been thoroughly enjoyable. I played the end of Season 3, Seasons 4, 5 and now 7. Every season the meta shifts into play styles that some people like and some dislike. You're always going to see a thread with someone complaining about a particular season "sucking". However, if you read the content of the post, this thread isn't blatantly complaining/crying about Season 7 sucking, it was a personal reflection of the current game state with a poll that appealed to an audience in a opinionated manner.

no am not, this is literally the same type of thread that i see every single season. i don't care if you enjoyed every single season but this one. Doesn't mean that this type of thread doesn't show up every single season. I have enjoyed every season i have played so far and i started near the end of season 2. Sorry but your post isn't any different from any other post like this, i know it's hard to swallow but it gets old really fast and even older when people try to defend that their bad thread of "this season is bad" is any different than the millions that pop up every single season when in reality they are the exact same thing just said in a slightly different way

Season 7 is not as bad as season 6, which had the worst champ pool. Only 57 out of over a hundred champions were contested at worlds in season 6, and less than 10 of them were +50% P/B... yikes. Then season 7 was a slight nudge back into the right direction, but still not as much variety and excitement as previous seasons.

I started in season 3 which in my experience had more champ pool and more comp variety than any season after it. Now days the game has grown more monotonous (same champs and comps over and over). Hopefully season 8 brings life back to the game.

I play to Gold each season for the cosmetic reward and have no interest in climbing higher. That being said, this season was pretty cake for me.

I easily reached Gold in Solo Que then took a significant break and came back to repeat the grind in Flex. Flex was a little bit harder as I tried to do my typical "Fill" role from seasons past. After going back to my main (Support) I would just pick mages or carries and be a late game 5th damage dealer who doubled as support early.

-Teemo support is hilariously good below Silver 2/1 Elo :D -I finished my elo climb with Zyra who does everything Teemo Support does, but better. Meta picks be meta after all.
