I cannot stand it anymore. Surrender is real cancer in this game it promotes playing to win not to have fun. At very least please riot i beg, move surrender to 40 minutes when the game is hopelessly lost in most cases. Too many times people surrender because of one bad team fight. The ability to surrender needs to be removed please upvote this for riot comment i want to hear what they think about this problem or if they think it is a problem at all.

I think the surrender time should be 30 minutes, so it gives time to come back from a bad situation instead of just quitting altogether.

I was playing a game earlier today when we were doing bad, but still capable of catching up and winning. I in a small skirmish as Zed with the enemy ADC I believe, and then both teams end up showing up for a team fight. As soon as we started to fight, I was about to go into the thick of it on their ADC when all of the sudden the surrender vote pops up, preventing me from being able to move in the direction I need to as well as prevented my from casting my Ultimate... It was quite infuriating, except for the fact that we won the team fight and I managed to survive.

I hate the whole mentality of "We're not doing so hot, but we can just surrender in 5/10/15 minutes so it's okay, I can just do nothing until then." Obviously there's more of a punishment for leaving games than there is for running around and farming the jungle for 15 minutes straight, so people just wait until the 20 minute mark to surrender instead of taking the LeaverBuster punishment.. I think that encourages more trolls to just do what they want to do and then end the game quickly as opposed to being forced to wait it out until the game is actually over.

The down side is this: If the surrender time gets moved up, then instead of forcing them to wait it out, I believe that some people are going to take it upon themselves to feed as much as possible for the sake of ending the game faster, which is also unacceptable.

My point is, there's not really a whole lot Riot can do about the surrender vote without making the situation worse. Granted, there is a few adjustments that can be made, but with the server problems in the new patch, and the new champions, and fixing bugs, there's not a lot of time for little things like the surrender vote.

TL;DR - 1. Not much that can be done about surrender vote time 2. They should move time up to 30 minutes 3. #2 Will just encourage intentional feeding 4. Punishments should be more harsh (Not part of the rest of the post, but I think they should be)

20 is good. Some games are just brutal n you just cant wait for it to end to take you out of your misery

I don't know too much about the history of discussion over required time spent in game before surrender is allowed, but I doubt riot can easily make a change to that without taking a careful and lengthy consideration.

Yes, players tend to surrender when they're behind or morale is low, but that problem lies in the players' mentality, and setting a 20 minute requirement instead of allowing players to surrender as soon as game starts is already a measure taken to prevent them from giving up.

While extending the required time to spend in game before surrendering seems to be a viable option, riot also needs to consider that there are players who are here to grief others. They intentionally run to all lanes to feed, verbally abuse teammates, spam report buttons, etc etc and they watch ppl suffer - even if they get banned they just make new accounts. While they're minorities, if one such player can make four others suffer, then even minority can make majority suffer, and 20 minutes is already way too long for these unfortunate ppl to bear with the pain.

Got a bit off topic. Removing the option to surrender is not going to solve anything. Players will simply Alt F4, go do something else, and come back after 30 minutes or so. Once again, the problem lies in players' mentality: I'm not saying making changes to game/rules won't help because I think it will, but I don't think this specific idea is going to work =/.

So much no. I'm sorry, but if the enemy team has double our kills and the whole team is floundering, I want out. It's no longer fun. If Riot were to take away the surrender option, I'd just start dcing at that point and deal with the punishment because there's no point in continuing to play if the match has lost it's fun. A complete shut out happens, and in so many of these situations, there's always someone that wants to keep going, I'm sorry, but when the match is no longer any fun, I want to cut my losses and move on.

While you make some good points XxDeadDemonxX i do not think it will promote intentional feeding but will make it less enjoyable to others if you do happen to get one. And all of you make really good pointsbut i think if a team is double the kills they should be ending soon and i think you can wait for 5 more minutes if it will prevent a few unwarranted surrenders

Sorry but you're part of the vocal minority on this issue. If you do not want your allies surrendering I suggest you find like minded people to party with.

i agree with moving the timer up but not Vetoing it all together. people tend to feel if im doing bad than there is no point in playing even if my team can bring it back. which is very dis-heartening especially when you have a really late game team and someone gives up mid or early game.

20 minutes is literally mid game these days. people are still fighting for towers at that point and wanna surrender its asinine.
