So they've admitted that Ryze is a problem

And that they're going to rework him eventually.

Can we go the Olaf route and make him unplayable until that time? Preferably not making him good post-rework either?

Ryze was never a issue. I played him a lot and his major weakness is his early game. He sucked against anyone that can go ham at levels 1-3 and kill him. That being said i learned there are tons of champions that make his life miserable and "OLAF" you said is actually one of the best counters against him.

Ham Ryze at levels 1-3 with your Q and put the fear of god in him. Rush Magic resis and watch his damage do shit while you chunk him with E's even before the nerf. Ryze was a joke and i loved the freelo when people picked him.

I dislike Ryze, I actually hate all point and click casters. But this is besides the point. They nerfed his Q damage at all ranks, I think it's nice that he's not as strong anymore. I don't think he needs anymore changes. I will still continue to hate him though.

How about we don't encourage the pants on head retarded practice of making champs unplayable on purpose for years at a time because balancing champs is just so hard to do.

I still don't see why people have an issue with Ryze, but then again, I like AP bruisers.

The olaf route is only for problematic melee scum and Urgot.

He is basically unplayable at the moment - or, rather, he isn't worth the investment into late game anymore after the damage reduction he received.
