@Meddler, How much new is new Taric kit?

Stars Shaper··18 votes·1,699 views

Title.

We got told about the Taric rework that he is going to keep most of the feel he had previsouly (nowdays) and that now is pretty solid in terms of what is going to be. But then, how much innovation is being built into his new kit? Have you come to choose his new ultimate? To what degree his playstyle will change?

I know he'll keep his heal.

Taric is the closest we have to a paladin. I hope he keeps that connection.

Stars Shaper1 votes

Yes I knew about this too. I'm hoping that he is going to have an additional feel to what he has now, keeping a lot of his kit doesn't let many windows to introduce innovations and the reason of this thread is about asking how much "newishness" we must expect.

Ralanr1 votes

Well if he's keeping his heal then he might be more focused on being a front line healer.

Believe me, you DON'T want to know what his "secrets" are. Taric

truly outrageous

I hope he stays a relatively flexible pick without being as overbearing as Thresh

It's nice that he's simple and effective without too much of a burden of knowledge

Hey,

Seasoned Taric main here. These are the things I hope to see kept and added:

  • Keep his identity as a Fighter Support. Taric does not have a Tank playstyle or kit that lets you Tank well. He is, in my opinion the ONLY Fighter Support and if this changes I'm going to be so disappointed I'll go eat microwaved chicken nuggets.

  • Keep Taric as a RELIABLE choice. I swear, target CC is NEEDED against the high mobility monsters that are everywhere nowadays. I hope he just keeps high reliability with his stun, heal, and buffs.

  • Change his invisible power. Taric is strong as fuk but no one realizes it.

Couldn't agree more

Ralanr1 votes

Isn't thresh fighter/support?

Gusicles1 votes

In a sense, Thresh can be a Fighter Support as well. However, his kit is not designed around fighting. Thresh has engage, peel, and strong crowd control, the qualities of a tank. Taric however, has damage, reliable but not strong crowd control, and sustain, the qualities of a fighter.

Ahh. Odd how that works.

his ult needs to change, it isnt really good by any means i mean if your solo yes sure he is good however it doesnt really do anything for your team as in not good ohh man a extra 30 ad at max lvl. wow im so amazed, that it gives yo uless stats as jannas non ult shield. i mean get rid of the penalty off his q and ult and he would be played more i guarenttee it.

Yes, if you give a champion overpowered uncounterable strength, he will be picked more. That's a spot-on analysis.

Less stats than a Janna shield is completely inaccurate. Janna only gives AD to one champion, Taric gives AD and AP to everyone. That's 140 AD and 140 AP (more with dragon) to his team and 70 AD and AP to himself.

If it was changed to be a full amount (350 AD and AP at max rank) then yes, people would play Taric more. That's not going to happen.

they take half the stats taric gets thats how his ult works so yes less ad then janna shield ohh man 35 extra ad and ap ohh man thats so much.

as long as they don't fuck with Pink Taric too much all is well

Stars Shaper1 votes

Well that's the skin/visual design which is another thing.

Most likely to keep, his heal. Most likely to go away, his target stun.

Aw, I think his point-and-click stun is pretty unique to him, and is a solid counter to increasingly mobile champions, like Kalista. I, personally, love every part of Taric's kit, but it all needs tuning to compete with newer supports that offer more in terms of abilities.

Partholonian1 votes

I think that since Taric himself is both immobile and short ranged, him having a point and click stun is not really problematic; most other champions can easily counter it by not running/dashing/blinking into Taric's face. Also, Taric himself has low damage and can't solokill you in a stun the way Annie or Syndra can. So the counter is even more specific: don't try to 1v2 Taric and a high damage squishy.

Protecting high damage squishies is, of course, a large part of the point of the support role, so it's fine for Taric to be excellent at it (IMO). He has poor engage and completely lacks poke, weaknesses he should probably keep in exchange for making his allies much harder to kill while they are close to him. But he's immobile, so in order to stay near him, they have to give up some of their own mobility; or, if the situation is dire enough, they can bail out on him, in which case he is likely to die surrounded.

The main problem I have with him is the hidden power of his W passive and ult, and I hope the rework focuses on those. Not because they actually make him weak, but because they make him FEEL weaker than he really is, both to the person playing him and to teammates.

Even if they reworked taric and he looked like a lady i wouldnt even be mad

I don't know about gameplay wise with Taric but I do remember a Rioter stating that Taric would be staying goofy with all his silly gem shtuff like "OTURAKGOEOGOEOUS TURLY ORUAGJAEKGKAEOUS" so don't worry about that.

Stars Shaper1 votes

Actually rioters have been smashing their heads with Taric character because they understand how important is the "fun/joke" about him but it was never in their intentions to make a joke character.

They want to make Taric a more serious character, a gallant knight who can appreciate beauty but they are (probably) still in high waters about how much serious he should be.

I love his ult, don't change it D:

Stars Shaper1 votes

It's really likely that it will change into something more noticeable ^^'

I just hope they don't give him a minigame.

Minigames are not the answer to everything.

Also if he loses even a single iota of his outrageousness, I will quit. Not really. But I'm gonna say so.

Stars Shaper1 votes

FOrtunally they never talked about even the chance of it and I don't see it as a possible solution either.

Minigames are fun with characters whose core makes them desireable and not the other way around.

new Taric ends up 8foot tall, he is ripped from the gym and his old armor is mearly a plate-kini now, and he is still "Fabulous".

Soon as enemy sees him they die. in teamfight game will say "Outrageous!" instead of Pentakill.

hidden passive is you might get attached to him.
