Are You New? Want to Have Fun in LoL? Here's My Suggestion...
So I was going to add this as a reply to HateDaddy's thread about new player experience, but I realized it should basically be it's on thread.
If you are actually new, enjoy the idea of some particular champ, just want to try out the very famous game, or simply are looking for a 'new game' to focus on for a bit, I suggest something very simple.
Stay in CoOp vs. AI.
Introduction level gives you a very nice 'hey this is important!' series of instructions while you actually play and engage the game. Great for your first or first couple of games if you're /totally/ new.
Been in the MOBA scene before and just poking LoL? Or prefer to just /play/?
Beginner CoOp vs. AI is perfect. You pick your champ, you stuffed into a team with 4 other people who know it's 'just a bot game', and it's usually very casual, relaxed, and fun. In Beginner Bots, you just need bodies in lanes. Meta doesn't matter, team comp doesn't matter, item-builds don't matter. You'll only run the risk of losing a beginner bots game if /everyone/ really is brand spanking new, and /everyone/ makes all the classic mistakes (i.e. getting killed too early, too often, with no reserve or caution at all). In other words, perfect place to learn the basics.
I play in beginner bots /still/. I leveled from 1 to 30 in beginner bots. I always have fun in beginner bots. And even if you DO get a troll in beginner bots? Meh, you can probably carry the game if you played careful, it's bots.
Not level 30 yet, but beginner bots 'too easy' for you? Fair enough! Jump into intermediate bots!
Intermediate bots demands a higher understanding of item builds, team composition, and enemy champ abilities for you to build up that mid-game snowball and finally stomp the bots. Remember, bots freak out with super-minions, so if you're struggling, focus down one of the lanes, nuke the inhibitor, and then help push the other lanes. Levels will balance back out, and you can win it.
So, simply put: unless you /need/ your PVP fix... don't. /shrug -- It's really that easy. I've played... like 4 PVP games in my entire 2-3 years of playing LoL? I'm not a PVPer, just not my thing. I love playing LoL. Every now and then, yeah, I'll try a PVP game (I rarely enjoy it...), but bots is where I just /PLAY/.
So if you're here to play and enjoy a videogame, try it out!
PST: you don't need rune pages for bots...
