Thoughts on Changing Ezreal's W to be more impactful
Riot has the philosophy of making each and every skill feel impactful. They also emphasize the reward and satisfaction of landing good skillshots. However, Ezreal
's W is just so very much lackluster in every aspect compare to most other champion's skillshots. Many adc's don't even take W until very late in game, and it basically serves as a glorified sheen proc and tower pushing tool. Here is what I propose for how it might be changed. I apologized if someone have already mentioned a similar concept in the past as I don't check the forum very often.
W: Essence flux: Removed: No longer grants allies attack speed. Can no longer hit allies. New: Hitting enemy champions grants Ezreal 10/15/20/25/30% bonus movement speed for 1 second, increasing by 0.5 second for each additional enemy champion hit beyond the first.
Explanation for the changes: Ezreal
is the epitome of a kiting adc. Giving him movement speed will reinforce his theme of "everyone for himself" with no help needed from or given to allies. W is currently very unsatisfying to land as most of the time it is either aimed at stationary allies attacking turrets, or thrown willy-nilly at enemies to keeps your stacks up and proc sheen damage. With this change, W is now more impactful both visually and in actual gameplay. Ezreal players now has greater incentives to try to land W on multiple enemies, rewarding the player to make the most use of this AOE spell. In addition, the the counter-intuitive part of the spell (shooting skillshots at allies? what madness!) is removed. It is for the same reason why riot removed the old karma's clothline mechanic(although it was fun while it lasted), thus giving the game more clarity. Of course, the numerical values of this ability are only experimental and can be adjusted accordingly.
tl;dr: I propose that Ezreal's W no longer give allies attack speed but rather a movement bonus to himself depending on how many enemies he hits.
