Elise or Vi? Should I go with what I know or try something new?

So I used to be a top laner, but my team realized that we didn't have a jungler, so they forced me into the position. Since we are an all female team we have a strict code of only playing female champions, believe me it was not my idea, so they said that I need to play Vi as my main jungler. The thing is, I bought Elise a while ago, I know her moves and I can utilize them very well. I'm pretty good jungling with her in game, and I can do a lot of damage with the guide I am using. But my team still insists that I play Vi, I have successfully bought her, and played a couple of games with her. But I'm not as good with her as Elise, she feels slow, and choppy to me, even with some items. I know she is strong, and a great jungle champion, but I don't know if she is exactly right for me. I've told my team this but they still persist.

So my main question is: Should I work harder at Vi or keep going Elise?

And if I am to go Vi are there any big tips you could offer specifically with ganking, and item sets I should use?
