Cries from a Protanopia Colorblind ADC [Color-blind mode does not help much.]
This guy seems to lay it out quite well. He addresses the problems with colorblindness as well as highlights some of the efforts riot has made in the past to help. The efforts are highly appreciated however, it wasn't really enough. In the past it was really easy to mod the map of lol before the 5.0 update. And when I emailed riot I was told that , that was unofficially my only option. Fair enough. However, I've tried a few times since and I have yet to succeed. The problem is primarily how the severity of colorblindness changes depending on what you're using to view a problematic item. In my case the Enemy red healthbars are a problem. Healthbars serve as a visual indicator for me and unfortunately they're red with the background being green/brown. I can discern the difference if I focus on one very small area on my screen, however, in order to get better you have to utilize your peripherals in order to be more aware. I'm stuck in a pretty bad "forced to tunnel vision" situation. I've mistaken enemies for allies on a few occasions when the person approaching didn't have a red healthbar like the person I'm defiantly focused on -- only to find out that they did (when they're currently on my face). I can add a picture later simulating the effects of colorblindness in game - but it's pretty tough and it's frustrating having such a huge hamstring when you're trying to improve. To solve this issue, I would love to be able to : Change non-allied nameplate colors - for minions, neutrals, and champions alike.
P.S. My colorblindness is more mild than sneaky's, while he is a pro LCS player who can compensate with a top-percentile skillset - he is not affected nearly as bad as I or other players are (confirmed by taking the colorblind test he took on screen.)
