Thoughts about the post of Nancymon,"MATCHMAKING GUIDE"
I have read the new matchmaking algorithm and I am pleased in general that RIOT is trying to improve the balance of games. However, this new system fails exactly at the same point as the last one:"Personal contribution".
League of Legends is a team game, meaning that you can be a good player and still lose cause your team is weak,or the opposite. But how can you prove with this MMR system that you are good?
Definately not only by the winning percentage.
I agree that KDA ratio will make players focus only on kills, losing the game's main objectives and strategy. But not including personal contribution in this MMR ratio is also unfair. What will happen to all those players that played very good but still lost the game cause the mid laner was trolling,or the mid laner played Le Blanc first time,or the support trying to carry a full AD team despite enemy had Nasus etc strong tanky late game champs and none in the team cared about it? Also, what will happen to that guy that was camped, got no help by his team, got flamed but with his skills he farmed as hell, made all the team calls and finally managed to win the game all by himself, giving a victory to all those 4 other noobtards?
In conclusion:This matchmaking needs to add personal contibution factors.I don't know what, you can add some in game bonus points, a personal contribution score that appears above every champion and will count some crucial factors.
For example:You will get points for every shutdown you make, for outplaying a higher level champion than yourself, for double-triple-quadra-penta kills, for killing sprees, for consequative assisting, for warding, for using your summoners and score kills or assists, for taking abjectives or assist in taking them, for crogs killing - pink ward number of use-giving vision to your team, for destroying enemy wards, for taking or giving buffs of jungle etc.The opposite can also happen, bad players and bad plays will result to the drop of personal contribution bonus score. If you feed too much you lose points,if you have poor farm(make some standart minimal farm borders for game time),if you have not contributed an assist or kill for a long period of time, for losing jungle objectives as jungler, for your adc to have many deaths as support, for your support if you have no kills as adc etc etc.I am sure you can think a lot of them yourselves :) .
The good player indeed will play many many games and sometime he will finaly pass this "road bump" Nancymon mentioned. But have you ever thought in RIOT how many players left the game and got dissapointed of it because of this "road bump"?
PS about elo hell: My "elo hell" is the fact that there are thousands of players in high tiers that do not have basic knowledge of the game, such as team-balance(tanks,mages,cc,adc),champion building(they stick blindly to recommended items),objectives, role of each position,WARDING,PINGING and last but not least the CALLS.Many guys cannot even understand when their team is winning and its sad. I strongly believe that the bases of Gold tiers MMR must rise A LOT,at least above 2000 MMR
