Lmfao, we ask for the ability to queue as one role, Riot responds with Auto fill
you will be placed in a role you didn't even attempt to select if the queue is taking too long
lmfao

I mean, something's gotta give. If you want to halve the number of roles the system will place you in, your queue time will double. It's not even the system, it's just math.

Those who want the ability to queue for one only understand that waiting 5 extra minutes for a game that will be better quality is insanely worth it, even just adding this as an option, and leaving the ability to queue for 2/3/4/5 roles total would still work, who cares if these particular people sit in their own special queues for a long time, it's their choice
taking away the choice and saying it's better for everyone is dictator-status bullshit.
But they are working to improve the quality of solo vs. premade. Basically inflating the MMR of premades so that the solo players in the group are individually 'better' players. At high MMR even reducing premade size.

that doesn't work though, they need to stop allowing premades if they want this to work, communication is worth much more than MMR, and when you get to the point of where MMR > team communication, you're basically placing plats against silvers, and every individual laner is going to carry so hard they never stood a chance, this is not a good system at all.
Your argument seems to hinge on there being no middle ground; that the MMR difference is just too OP or that team communication is.

you're right, there's never been anything like that in league
where something is either too strong or too weak. what am i thinking, i'll slap myself immediately.
there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that has been proven to be this way time and time again even for multiple years.
god what is wrong with me
fuck.
Communication is only worth something if the people using it aren't stupid. From the horror stories I've been reading people are still extremely stupid even if they are in a premade (at least at lower elos). It does give an unfair advantage to those who aren't idiots, but even they're bound to be outplayed every now and then by a group of solos if their mechanical skills/game knowledge is simply better than the premade's. Not saying it doesn't give an advantage, but I think people are overvaluing the advantage it gives.

there is really no standard for how anyone below high diamond is going to play because they're inconsistent casuals, so yes this holds true for bronze/silver/gold and most of plat, and i'd agree, the problem areas for premades are above diamond, and they're changing that anyway by not allowing 4-5 mans
It IS better for everyone. Giving people the option to pick exactly one role increase EVERYBODY's queue times.

are you not reading what i'm saying? I don't want that, I want an option for people who want to to be able to select one role, and I want anyone who wants to select more roles to have that option too, let us who want a quality game not full of feeding morons wait longer to get our game
i waited fucking 37 minutes for every DPS queue in WoW, and I got my gear at the end, getting into a dungeon faster with 5 dps just to exist in a game within a few minutes would not make the game better, and it doesn't make it better here either.
There WILL still be a majority increase in players who want to select just the one role compared to people wanting more than 1 role, therefore, queue time will still be increased a lot anyway. Just like how I remembered waiting 30 minutes to get top or mid lane during Team Builder.

if you waited 30 minutes your client was bugged and that is your own fault for not leaving queue sooner
the only servers that encountered this regularly were OCE, LAN, LAS, and other small serves where no one ever used it, on NA, if you ever waited more than 15 minutes it was a "you" problem.
I would go as far as to say i'll wait 30 minutes for a game where i'm matched with people actually at my skill level playing a role they're comfortable with. waiting 2 minutes to get into a lobby with 3 shit tier mid laners that are 300 mmr away from me does not help me show my skill at all.
No matter how you organize it, letting players pick one role makes things worse for everybody.
Option 1: Separating players who want a single role into a different queue. This shrinks the population of players looking for a match in the current queue, meaning that their timers get longer. Since the population of people in the one-role queue is much smaller and the population is further subdivided into individual roles, queues in the one-role get MUCH longer and matchmaking gets worse (you tend to be up against and teamed with a wider variety of people).
Option 2: Allowing players to pick fewer than two roles in the standard queue. Assuming that more people pick one role than three or four (which seems like a reasonable assumption), the selection problem still exists; the pool of people who could be in your game is smaller, so matchmaking gets worse and queue times get longer, again, for everybody.

looks like you have a lot of data and research to back up your claims, have a good one.
... you don't need an exhaustive survey to understand how queue times work. The smaller the pool of people you're willing to play with, the longer your queue will take. If people choose one role instead of two, that shrinks the number of people who could fit in a particular role in your game (say, support) from fourteen role combinations to two, meaning that your queue takes a lot longer. Tightening matchmaking (that is to say, allowing less difference in MMR between players in a match) does the same thing.
Since Riot doesn't want to make queue times massively longer, they settle for in between: you get more control over your role, but your queue times are longer and your matchmaking is worse. You can't move those three variables independently: making one better makes at least one of the others worse, for everybody. Is there something you don't understand about this, or are you just being obstinate?
If you want what amounts to 'research', you can look at what happened when Dynamic Queue was implemented. Control over your role shot up, but as a cost, queue times increased and matchmaking got worse. As it's been adjusted over the weeks, the balance has shifted, but the change is there.
