My Aatrox build to help out the AA mains :D

So I've been playing Aatrox for about a year and a half now (used to be a Riven main). After his rework, I was super salty and thought Aatrox was dunzo but it turns out, he's not that bad! I think people just need to learn how to play around his passive (stacking it as soon as possible) and build items correctly. My build is item 3022 item 3006 item 3071 item 3153 item 3046 and the last item I'm currently experimenting with. This build you take against mobility champions like Riven Yasuo Tryndamere etc. Frozen Mallet first allows you to turret dive them and they can't do anything about it and you'll melt squishies like adc and mids. With your w active, you'll kill them pretty quickly. The build does change when you fight tanks though, taking item 3071 first instead of item 3022 Boots should also change accordingly. I go item 3006 when I'm ahead but it's fine if you go for tabi or something else. I like to take item 3071 not only for the armor break, but for the movement speed you get + the item 3022 slow + your e slow. You can catch anyone in the game and if you have item 3153 you can even catch Ezreal pretty easily. Just wanted to share my build and wanted to know what other people are building/testing on him.

He was legitimately shit immediately after the rework changes. He's in a much better spot now, thanks to several consecutive buffs.

I found the problem.

No Titanic for waveclear + extra fast W stacking?

I think Tabi's is too important, but looks solid otherwise.

People just need to learn to be patient and stop whine for nothing.

now for ur build is only "good" if u wan't to splitt, dual or u snowball hard. At "decent" elo and for team fight ur Aatroc lack of resistance.

Forget this item 3006.

From my pov, a good build would go like :

  • item 3748/item 3153 >item 3071 > full tank (put item 3053 somewhere)

I dig that build. Personally I feel like item 3022 is a bit of a crutch since w/ Bork you have 2 slows already in the kit. That being said, I can see that being a really strong choice specifically when up against the high mobility champs you listed.

Problem with that build : No resistances whatsoever. Unless you're running scaling armor + scaling MR, you're really goddamn squishy even if you have 3k+ HP. I'd advise with tabis or mercs and last item tank, if possible double-resist : item 3512 item 3193

But any defensive item can be welcome item 3026 item 3143 item 3065 item 3742 sound like decent choices asw

+1 for a well written and informative post that sheds light on a champion's not so obvious strengths when the majority of people choose only to see his weaknesses (myself included, I will be trying this build)
