What is the counter to Shield-Stacking team compositions?
Sure one may argue that shields eventually expire but, once the team has enough cooldown reduction (fairly cheap and easy to get 40% cdr) the shields will indefinitely be up. Also in upper elos players know how to rotate the shields as in the moment one shield goes down the next person in line uses their shield to fill that cooldown gap.
I think shields should have a decaying rate similar to Janna's reworked shield ability because from what I'm seeing right now with Yuumi, Karma, Kaisa, and other shielders is that they could do poor all game but if they have even 1 player snowball on their team, they can just stack all the shields on that 1 person.
I remember back in S1-S3 there was actually an item that temporarily disabled shields and was extremely effective vs. shield stackers. The item really helped out the assassins who get a very short window of opportunity to attack. When the enemy goes from effective 2k health to almost 5-6k with certain comps using shields the only thing that can be done at that point is waiting it out. The problem with that is that champions who have a small window of opportunity to strike usually get their positions compromised if they wait it out after going in on that window of opportunity.
If healing is reduced by 50% each time a person uses additional heals then I think shields should also have that considering the post-40% cooldown shields are almost always up. Like in one trade Karma can shield at least 2-3 times if timed properly and it's way too effective for just pressing 1 button the entire trade.
I'm open to learn more about how to deal with shield-stacking compositions if there's any smurfs out there willing to give non-troll advice. I'm struggling with fighting this composition since season 1. Right now my guess is to just splitpush and avoid fighting that composition but that also means there's not gonna be any contesting for objectives on our end so the shield team can just easily go baron or something.
