Brutalitops011 votesI mean, Janna certainly isn't a well-liked champion among ADCs. Speaking as an ADC main myself, Janna players tend to play safe - almost too safe, in the lane phase. I often find myself in games where the entire team except bot lane fed and the game is over before I'm able to scale up and carry. Being able to capitalize on advantages in lane phase is something a lot of ADC champions hope for in supports because it means that they can become relevant and carry, even when their allies are feeders. Now, Janna's ult protection in late game is certainly not something to be glossed over. When used well, it basically allows you to reset a fight with all the enemy team's burst blown and the enemy team low health, while you're all full health. However, that teamfight power is going to be pretty useless when bot lane is a farm fest and mid lane is 0/10 20 minutes in.

Lucian works well with Janna, same with Vayne, same with a few others, they also work well with Nami, reason why is they have the ability to engage when the support can not. Those supports are for making YOUR engage work. They can knock leonas out of dashes, they can knock thresh out of dash and can knock enemy adc out of lantern pull etc etc. You engage and the support is the counter engage.

The thing about that is that not a lot of ADCs have strong engage. Lucian is a lane bully who works well with Janna because of her shield giving him AD and letting him dive into trades without fear of taking too much damage. Vayne works well with her for the same reason. They're fighting ADCs. Ashe ult can easily lead into a Jannasec, same with a Kalista ult. However, several ADCs have no way of fighting or poking in the lane phase without the support being the one to engage. You mention Nami as being another one of these with this same style, but I disagree. She has her bubble and her Ebb and Flow. She can pretty easily poke the enemies with E or engage fights with ult/Q and buff her ADC with W. I love playing with good Nami players because of how much she's able to do in the lane phase when played well. Soraka, on the other hand, basically gives you a free lane to farm in since she can heal up any poke you take. While you may not be getting fed with a Soraka as your support, the enemy's damage doesn't stick on you, either. The biggest problem that I have with Janna is that not a lot of Janna players use her tools to poke in the lane phase. Run hybrid pen reds and put your shield on yourself and basic attack to poke. Throw your Q at the enemy to give me a knockup to get some free damage on them with. Throw your Zephyr thing at them to poke. Do something other than stand behind me and throw out a shield any time it comes off cooldown, please! She has the tools to poke in the lane and do something to help alleviate the enemy team's pressure, but it's so rare that I get a good Janna player that actually uses them.
Silly Neeko1 votesYes nami can POKE but she can not ENGAGE a fight like what you were implying in my mind. Janna poke is minimal, and often has her ending up on the short end of the stick if they have any engage champion like thresh or blitzcrank. Also enemy adc tends to have warlords most often and are more than willing to poke as the janna tries to poke. The shield takes a bit but you run the risk of both the enemy adc and support hard engaging you........ While your adc is just farming.
Nami has easier poking for sure, a little less issues, but again, if the enemy has a hard cc hard engage champion, then if they are able to land their shots..... The nami is going to be hurting and needing to stay back a bit.
How they work best, like i said, is when the adc engages. That forces the enemy to either try to engage or back off. You just said the exact reasons why i said those adc champions work well with those supports. So im not sure if you are trying to argue against me or help validate my comments.
And yes i am a mastery 7 nami, i do know how to play her, i do know how to poke and dodge with her, i do know that when it comes to actual fighting and engaging, it helps a lot when your CC isnt used just so the adc can get to the enemy..... Unless the enemy is playing so you have to. It is best used in the fight when your adc is able to lay down damage DURING the bubble stun and ulti knock.
