Some games people tend to forget to change their masteries and runes in Champion Select. And yes, I realized that changing runes in-game when you've been playing for 10-20 minutes or so can really be a game changer, playing against hybrid champs. So it would be nice to be able to change your masteries and runes for at least 3-5 minutes when the match starts.
Make it one minute or less, or have it lock in if you take or deal damage in any way (minus damage from skills with health cost) and I might vote yes after a bit more thought. There is plenty of time to notice this already, particularly in draft/ranked.
It would be nice if you could change them at the loading screen, at least.
You probably shouldn't be able to change them after the enemies have seen your stats in game.
I've never had an issue with this... it's literally staring you in the face. Of course I also don't try to swap champs/runes/summoners at the last second like I see other people sometimes do.
I think the idea of allowing the change before the player suffers or deals any kind of damage (from any unity) to be pretty valid. I vote yes for that one.
IIRC: the runes are part of the instance you load into at the beginning of the match. If you wanted to be able to change the runes I think it would have to reload the whole match based on the way it draws the data.
It might be easier to just have the timer after everyone is locked in split into sections. The first 5-10 seconds keeps the skins in the middle of the page then the next 10-15 moves the rune page part of the box to the middle and enlarges it. And then the next 10-15 moves the mastery page part of the box to the middle and enlarges it. I dont really have sympathy for the people who are alt tabbed out and forget to change these even when I do it myself :/
